Got a new motor to get my MXS back in the air again and was able to get a handful of flights in over the weekend. After going back and flying my dad's 3dhs 48" Edge for a few weeks while the MXS sat, I felt like a little kid again when I got the MXS in the air. The feel of this plane is just ridiculous in comparison. It took me quite a few flights to get used to flying the Edge when I hadn't flown it for a few months, so I figured it would take a few to get back into the MXS as well... not the case! Even though I've got tons more throw on the MXS and nearly double the roll rate of the Edge, the first flight up I felt right at home. It's quite surprising just how much better the MXS tracks and how much more stable it flies. It just seems like it's so much more locked into every input I give. I love this plane! I need to make a new video with it when it cools down. I hate having to mind motor temps on hot days

I got the Motrolfly DM2820-750kv running an APC 13x6.5 and Sky Lipo 4s 40c 2200's. Lots of power, but I'm kind of thinking I should have gone for more. I'm really throttle heavy on this plane.

You're running 3 cell I assume?

I had somewhere between 150-200 flights on the last 2820-750, but it started getting extremely hot and losing power after only a minute so I just replaced it. It had never given me problems and always ran super smooth with lots of power for the plane. I suspect it just wore out with all the hard tumbling I do.

thats a neat motor to be able to go 3s or 4s..14x7 on 3s
12x6 on 4s. 13x5 maybe for 4 but def watch temps and amps.insane power.
Ive got the 750 kv version on my msx with 100s of flights and a couple of doinks on it.. i run a 13x6.5 on it now and love it.

250 flights on the MXS (RIP), and pushing 150 flights on the Edge with a 14x7 on my DM2820-750 going strong. Plenty of power, after news of some structural failures with the 14 inch props (after 200 flights), I started being mindful of putting high gyroscopic forces on the motor. I just couldn't go back to the 13 after rocking the 14. I might get one wound to 710ish if it ever dies.

In regards to tips, I put mine back on and found the following

Roll rate slowed down dramatically
Ke spins way more difficult, can't use full rudder
Slightly more stable in alpha

I don't know I'd they are worth it but I love the way they look. :/

Same here. I love the way they look, but I wasn't a huge fan of the subtle differences in performance. I'd keep them on if I was sport flying the plane, but it almost seemed as if it added a little coupling. I had to work a little more in KE.
