A quick power combo update-

I've been flying with the following for probably about 10 flights:

CS10 / 105A ESC / CP-480-2800kV

Flying on 5S.

Well, on my third flight today in 90+ degree heat the motor smoked on me about 2-3 minutes in. C'est la vie. I think I may swap the stock power combo back in for the summer months and go back to "turbo mode" once temps drop below 80 again.

Man that sux. Been there, done that though. Just picked up the new Meteor today and I had Scott at Grayson Hobby mod it up for me. Got retracts and struts ready to Fly. WooHoo...

I supplied the struts and bought the retracts from them for about 10.00 each.

Scott, at Grayson did an awesome job. Will post video when I get back in town. I figure I've got 239.00 invested including labor which is alot less than the Habu II which would cost 333.00 with the struts. Included in the mod was replacing the elevator servo as well as installing a Castle Ice 100 I had sitting around. Plan to add more power after I wear out the stock motor on 5S.

Whoa... I'm local too (Marietta)... Meteor w/ retracts for $239 would be sweet.

So if there are all these Meteors flying around the ATL metro area, how come mine is the only one I ever see?

I usually fly at the field on 92 in Kennesaw/Woodstock, and White Oak Park in Dallas.

Does the grayson hobby esc in the meteor have a deans connection?

if not, how hard is soldering up another connector?? 10 minutes tops.....

Yes, the Grayson Meteor has a stock Deans.

But soldering a power connector can be hard for someone with no soldering iron! LOL
Many flyers just buy and fly and have almost no tools... or not beyond simple screwdriver and hammer, hehe.

So how hard can it be.... using a hammer, extremely hard if not almost impossible. (You can do almost anything with just a hammer).

I bought a soldering iron when I got back into RC last year... last time around (ended about 10 years ago) I was a nitro guy. I'm not any good at it yet but at least I took the plunge and am doing my best. I can handle bullets but Deans are pretty tough for me. I haven't quite gotten around to standardizing yet.

But I do have a storage cabinet full of connectors, multiple gauges of wire, and shrink wrap... so maybe that day is coming...

well i have a soldering iron, and ive done it with my batterys i got from Hobbyking that had that banana plug. but i think the esc should come with deans because everything else like there batts and esc's have them, so we will see when it gets here next week.

It will have a Deans, don't worry. I have bought two meteors from them.
