Plettenberg 220/25/A1 10 cell F5F motor for 3m+ sailplane?
Just wondering if anyone uses motors like this 10 cell Plettenberg one in big electric sailplanes and not just in the smaller F5B (F5F) types? I was thinking of getting one and putting it in an 3.45m electric Graphite but perhaps a less powerful motor would be more suitable. I have a 7 cell F5B Plettenberg motor (two actually, although I just sold the unused one) and I really like its quality and high climb rate (power) so I was thinking a 10 cell version would be nice to have for a big 10 cell sailplane.

I am using an Aveox LMR16 motor in my 3.5 meter Reichard Blizzard. It works well with 10 cells and a 16x8 prop. I just built a 14 cell 2400 nicad pack for horsing around.
The plettenburg motor on 8 cells with a prop like a 16x8 might work well. Run the numbers on P-calc and see what you get.
The AUW of the blizzard is around 106 oz.

You can use this motor with an RFM 18.5x12 prop on 10 cells. It'll be very powerful for the plane.
If your 7-cell is the HP220/15 A1 P6 7:1 motor and you wanted to keep the plane lighter, you can use that on 10 CP-1700 cells and an RFM 14x10 prop.
