As we don't have conscription here, joining the armed forces is a personal choice

Well good for you,I appreciate it,however I still think that not voting by choice negates your right to complain about any representative.(I do take your point re the two supposedly conservative independents, though more fool the LNP for not putting up a better fight in their electorates.)
Also a close look at both Windsor and Oakenshot should have raised some alarm bells for true conservatives I would say.Water under the bridge now anyway.

Fly, Whilst a personal choice, one I do proudly as my grand father did.

Bleary, I have a problem being made to stuff (bit silly coming from someone in the Army) but whilst I'm happy to abide by most laws, being made to vote for fatcats who get a life $300k pension for doing bugger all whilst war vets live near the poverty line in our society is against what I stand for. Why should they reap the seeds of what others have sown. It's legalized stealing.

Why should they be allowed to vote themselves a pay rise when nurses, teachers, and doctors , etc. Are struggling to even get paid. We can even get the nurses paid in qld cause they broke the pay system. How would like to live $33k a year and feed their family pay bills etc. They'd have it all fixed yesterday if it was that way, and you know it. So don't preach to me, cause this isn't a fight you win.

I don't think I can do it better, but I'd sure as he'll listen to people.

Look I am trying not to preach and I agree that the Super and perks they get are wrong, but voting is a privilege and a right that has been hard won in a lot of circumstances. So people who either don't vote by choice or donkey vote, lose the right to criticize democratically elected representatives or the system of representative democracy that we have.
Hell, vote for the Greens or the Sex party for all I care, just vote!

Sorry, i have to disagree with this statement, I vote, and i try to do so with what i consider an informed opinion. obviously it is mine and will be different to many others, the point is i vote having weighed up the options and considered what i think is the best for the nation. for people to just walk in to the polling booth blind and decide their with no prior thought behind it is like going to the races and betting on the horse with the fastest sounding name. the problem is that if enough people do this one day these random partys some of with with questionable intentions let alone integrity will pull enough votes to have an influence, basicly we could end up with Warrick Caper, or Jodie Moore deciding who will run the country, SCAREY!!! if they don't vote then i suppose that is a different matter. there should be another box at the bottom of the ballot paper, the No Confidence vote, everyone ticks that then the parties can go away and have a good hard look at themselves and what they stand for come back and try again

Cheers
Craig

I still haven't got over Julia winning the election. She didn't deserve it after the way she back stabbed KR.

I've never been a Labor supporter (but don't always vote Lib) but the way this has all happened has just given me even more reason to never ever wanting to ever vote for them.

I think its just outright embarrasing that she's our National leader.

On a lighter note though; Bleary you every coming back to WA?

A few points:
1. The failure/problem rate of the insulation project was LOWER than what it was BEFORE the GFC project began

2. Peter Garrett lost his own mother in a house fire and he tried unsuccessfully to rescue her.

You have obviously swallowed the Lib swill they dished up about him... He took "one for the team", as everything he did was with the full agreement of the top echelons in the government
