Gee they are tough planes though. My transmitter battery worked loose and it crashed full speed into the ground. This is the second time it has been broken as bad as this.

Broke into a number of pieces however all glued back as good as new. The main problem was the broken engine mount but I took this out and reinforced the back of it with a piece of carbon fibre sheeting. I think it is now as much glue as EPO.

Thanks. I also added a gyro for more stability with wind whilst I was doing the rebuild. Unfortunately when I installed it the ailerons got reversed and I forgot to check it. Short flight but luckily it was a quick repair. Next flight I've promised myself no crashes.

I'm interested in how you are adding the Gyro, I have one from an Blade CP, and had considered that myself, but really not sure how to go about doing it. Can you elaborate on that please? Pics would be great too, and lastly, would love to hear how it does once you get the ailerons worked out.

I've had my corsair 9 months now, and through 2 multiple-piece fights with earth, 5 full speed encounters with tree's and 1 nose dive into a lake, I still LOVE my corsair, she's a tough bird.

Just flew mine today for the 1st time (actually 2nd but I was a bit to nose heavy so I only did 1 lap and put her down.

Optima 300 (1820 KV)
30@ proton ESC
nano-tech 850 3S 25C
6 x 4 APC

Flies very nicely with good speed (50-60 mph) and good verticals. Very tight loops and great control throws. I've got Tx dialed down to 70/30 and she still rolls very quickly. Not as stable as my Sky Angel P40 at extremely low speeds but tracks very nicely at about 1/8 throttle on final. Actually makes it a bit easier to land in the sense that it's got a more dependable sink rate then the P40 which glides forever.

If you set nominal power as you transition from your base leg to final you can leave the power alone and fly pitch to the flare with no problem. Cut throttle right as you flare and she settles in perfectly. With the Sky angel birds they will actually tend to climb a bit even at low speeds....leaving you nose up 4 ft off the ground. I actually fly my P40 into about 6 inches and let it settle in the ground effects with no flare at all. When it finally decides its time to land I flare it right as it drops.

Obviously limited flights but a great bird to learn proper landing techniques. I always pick a specific spot for touchdown and on the last flight set power about 70 yds out as I turned on final and landed within a foot or two of my mark with almost no changes in pitch (wind cooperated nicely)....great kit for anyone interested in building out an 800mm warbird.

Indeed - I've also had multi-piece fights with earth, and whilst mine doesn't look so pretty any more it flies just fine. Yay for electric powered foam planes - somebody who watched the ground jump out in front of my plane whilst it was on full throttle commented that he used to own old-fashioned balsa planes and they'd have just been matchwood after that. I flew again later the same day.
