70mm composite L-39 from Hobby City

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=14425

I did not see a thread on this yet. Anyone know anything about it. Fusealge is composite and wings are built up. I do not see any ducting. $150.00

Hi,

Looks alot like a SAPAC L-39. If the quality is that good, it would be a great price at $150.00.

The sapac is larger (I think) and it has flaps and full ducting, so I do not think you are getting the SAPAC for this price, but it may still be a good value for what it is.

The wings look disproportionately large.

3" less wingspan and 6" less length than the Sapac one.

i shudder to think about getting that box in the mail. HC/HK can't even send me a foam plane without it being broken.

Got mine today, arrived fine double boxed and good packaged with lots of bubbles. First impressions are good, I'm 95% sure that it is the prodesign kit (label is ripped from the box and no manual present), has nice ducting, retract formers & space. Overall quality looks to be better than the other fiber jet I owned (HET f-16 RIP )
Somehow wings look too large in the photo, my kit has smaller wings.

That's too much for me
I think the kit has been designed to be flown without a thrust tube. I couldn't fit the elevator servo and thrust tube (I built it using an old x-ray film) to the exhaust area. Ended up putting the elevator servo outside to the side of the fuselage, doesn't look good this way, but it's better than flying without a thrust tube. Elevator linkage is supposed to be in the exhaust area, and also the horizontal stabilizer passes through. Without a thrust tube, there will be lost of turbulence there.
I'll try to take some photos and upload this evening.

Here are the photos of the kit. I'm using mini retracts (Haoye) again from hobbycity. Elevator servo looks terrible this way, I'll reposition it probably under the elevator in the future.

Hi KaanX - What is the link to those retracts? Looks like HC might be back ordered. Do you know who else might have them?

Wing area looks tiny on this model - got mine no problem but wonder what the wing loading might be.

Anybody have the manual for it? Can you email it to me rob.s.ellis@comcast.net - especially need the CG.

- Rob
