I was thinking a cool idea for a plane would be--

• delta wing jet-ish overall design but with large enough surface areas to not be killer fast.
• Some sort of pusher prop configuration, prop behind mid to somewhere near aft but ahead of control surfaces.
• Elevons and rudder control surfaces in prop wash to provide vectored thrusts.
• Three axis gyros to stabilize yaw, pitch and roll.

I just think it would be really cool fly 3D with a pusher. If the gyro feedback was right, I'm wondering if you could actually get the thing to stand on top of the prop instead of hang from it. With airplane gryos only being ~$20/each, would only be $60 more than building a regular pusher delta.

Anyone ever done it?

if the fuse is long it woud be easier to do .

i think RCPowers did a hovering table that sat on props ... in thier VTOL videos.

One thing I did not figure out how it could be done is elevons. The mixing is in the transmitter.

But maybe you then alter the plane of the gyro.

The rudder gyro remains on the yaw axis.

Then you roll and pitch axes. Instead of putting the other two gyros on those, you up them 45* between each. You position the gryos in a "V" 90* apart.

I thinking now in theory that would work.

Of course using an electronic (or mechanical, yuck) V-tail mixer after the gyros would work.

The theory just makes me seam to believe that two gryos 90* opposed between the roll and pitch axis would also work.

I guess I'm just going to have to build it to see.

It is easier to use a ducted fan with 360 thrust vectoring. You do not even need a gyro to control it and it will slow fly and do high alpha's as well as hover. I have just improved the hover capability and it is a whole new way of flying.
