================================================
Quick start guide with the iPhone interfaceĥ

* Configure your iPod in Airplane mode to have the best Wifi connection quality level. Make sure Wifi is switched off on your iPod.
* Plug a fully charged battery in the AR.Drone and lay it on horizontal, flat area.
* If you fly indoor make sure you attach the large EPP hull.
* If you fly outdoor make sure you attach the small EPP hull.
* Switch on the iPod's Wifi and connect to ardrone_network
* Check you got the following IP address: 192.168.1.2, sub network mask 255.255.255.0 and router 192.168.1.1.
* Start Parrot Demo application and check you see the video stream live from the AR.Drone.
* Go to settings menu (top left button), select "Flat Trim" and check tilt angle is not set to zero.
* If you fly indoor make sure you position "Outdoor shell" and "Outdoor Flight" buttons to OFF.
* If you fly outdoor make sure you position "Outdoor shell" and "Outdoor Flight" buttons to ON.
* Press the center bottom button for taking off. The AR.Drone should take off vertically and hover steadily.
* Use touchpad as described above for the control mode you chose and go up/down, strafe left/right/forward/backward, or turn left/right.
* In case any propeller, engine or gear were blocked, a "Cut out emergency" alert message is shown. Press the top center reset button when the problem is cleared.
* Press the center bottom button for landing.
* Disconnect the LiPo battery.
* To release the ad-hoc network and save iPhone battery go back to iPhone settings and switch off Wifi.

Download & Running the latest SDK
You need to compile the program yourself.

Here is a quick step-by-step guide for Ubuntu 10.04

Download the SDK 1.0.4 and place in your home directory.

Run the following commands in a terminal.

sudo apt-get install libsdl-dev

tar xvjf ARDrone_API-1.0.4.tar.bz2

mv release-1_0_4_ARDrone_Version_20100716_1_0_4_RC ardrone

cd ardrone/ARDroneLib/Soft/Build/

make

cd ~/ardrone/Examples/Linux/Navigation/Build/

make

The executable “ardrone_navigation” will be located in

ardrone/ARDroneLib/Version/Release

You may need to edit “ardrone/Examples/Linux/Navigation/Sources/UI/gamepad.h” and “ardrone/Examples/Linux/Navigation/Sources/UI/gamepad.c” depending on what gamepad you use.

-A.R Drone Drifting information
-
The primary source of the drifting stability is done by the AR.Done using its bottom camera. If you are flying on a surface which is very repetitive and does not have any visually distinct items for the software to lock onto, you will experience drifting when you let go of your controls. This software is only intended to assist flight. It is possible that something else is causing your results but just to make sure, try placing an object or two below your AR.Drone on the same surface.

Really! Another official Parrot AR Owner's thread? Nice! I guess there is enough excitement and enthusiasm going around.
There is NO need to bicker around boys!
