Hey Patrick I have to thank you again. Your pics made it clear I was not going to fish a servo wire through that fuse. So I started sliding the knife between the already split nose. I was pulling the halves appart at the same time and "POP", it split right back to the wing saddle. I finished by gently separating the halves while cuttung the glue as they opened up. A few more pops and you don't even have to cut the servo mount, they glued everthing into the right half ONLY then glued the two halfs together. The only glue on the left side "parts" is squeeze out (in). :-) Sorry, the rear canopy clip has to come out also (glue, so allow at least 30 sec. to get past this.)

My rudder servo wire now sits right in the slot where the old control rod was. Makes me

Now I gotta try to figure out a quick disconnect elevator horn.

The top bit could be C/Aed to the top of the elevator (it's not cut to length or drilled yet) The threaded rod is THREADED through the bottom plate and would remain attached to the end of the control rod (closed loop not a "z" bend) The second little guide to stop it from spinning. Huh, Huh, maybe?

But I like what you're doing.

Since the elevator is merely thin Foam, I'd like to see a bit more surface engagement.
Otherwise we'll end up wolering out the hole(s) and get a sloppy elevator
or even worse Fluttering parts.

Those Horns that use a ratcheting piece on the opposite side look kinda good.
Thing is ... the unracheting :-(

I'm with you on leaving the "horn" attached to the rod.

Maybe the Ratchet could be smoothed down yet simply held in place with another
Snap/Pin/key thingy.

Or we could glue a plates with holes into the elevator to handle the wear and tear.
Then put that tight fitting pin in place with a snap/key/spring whatever.

I'm just throwing out ideas ...

I'm not much help here as I'm still deep into that Zenair CH750 project.

And at 7 pm it's already only 20 deg F !
It's NOT supposed to be like this as close as I am to the Coast ! :-(

I went ahead and tried it, with adjustments :-) The pics will help. The top plate is glued to the top of the elevator (the wear you mentioned). The back guide screw is attached to the top plate. I also filled all the old holes with foam and C/Aed it all in. One pic shows the finnished fitting. The other is after the first attempted quick connect. It's tight and the elevator has tons of deflection.



If we find a better way it comes off even faster for remodification

I built an Easy Riser a long time ago.
Then when I wanted to build a real plane I went to Oshkosh several times
Read Kit magazines, traveled to Oregon and flew the RV-3, and to Canada a flew the Rebel
and sat in the CH301 with the canopy closed at Oskosh and hated it as it heated up instantly.
Thought I wanted the Avid Amphib and went to Caldwell
and eventually just bought an old PA28-180. Flew it for about 8 yrs and sold it. Done !

I know guys who haven't FINISHED their kit planes for over 10 yrs or more in some cases .

Now a days Kits cost MORE than my Cherokee then you have to put an engine on it and some instruments !
GAWD how the prices have gone asymptotic !

Even the CH7xx kits are over $19 grand base. No motor No Instruments. $40k EASY before you are done.

I have been know to do a CAD design and never build the model.
Why ? because I've gotten it OUT of my System by the time I'm done in CAD.

The CH 750 will get finished but with this weather I'll have lost interest by the time
the weather improves enough to fly it. sigh ...
I Might try it in a local gym this winter.
A Large Slow Indoor flyer might work to pass the dark times, eh :-)

Heli (i think), yes, my motors i bought were waaaaay off (post was quite some time ago - page 4 i think). looks like i have a few idle bell motors sitting in the cupboard waiting for a new machine! my motor has actually worked itself out - turned out to be a wire problem. one wire was touching another in the wind. just needed to separate.

i'm flying it every weekend now and lovin it!! using 1.3 3s and its very well balanced and ample power for gliding. still haven't put a new swing mech in for the rudder.. but i always was a bad user of rudder. even on the real thing when i used to fly them out of cambden airport. i was lucky enough to do aerobatics in a dg1000 once (although i wasn't allowed to pilot it because i was still learning ;-(.

hey - anyone sloped this yet? i must admit, i'd like to slope her, but i'm very very nervous about landing her. she just doesn't want to come down!! (although i suppose a good updraft on a hill will slow her) most times i feel like i could set her on approach, go grab a coffee and come back 20 minutes later for the flare!

someone pointed out the stock engine and i've had a few on back order for a week or so. hopefully it doesn't take too long, although now my issues are resolved.

BTW Heli, noice flying with the heli video. i bought a HK450Gt recently.. well actually not recently... its been sitting in the cupboard waiting final build. i've been flying planes for over 20 years but havent flown a heli yet. hopefuly i will finsih the build in a week or two and take her for a virgin flight.

i've been practicing on MSR micro, but its not the same (I am told).

i love a good challenge!!
