id not seen this guys work so did a youtube serch_ just WoW! superb! just gos to show big light models fly scale! Though i would be intreasted to see it fly with a gyro on roll.

I know they crack me up.

In pretty good shape weight wise. AUW now of the complete airframe and the engine nacelles is 2.5# So 5.5-6 lbs RTF it looks like. or somewhere abouts.

I'll show the nacelle and reverser later

Nacelle and simple reverser. I tried the real way to do them with the arms, but the complexity was rediculous and im trying my best to make it straightforward to build this thing. This was as simple as i could think to make them and have them look decent and work well.









I actually need to reshape these clamshells and refine a little, I cut them down too much, so when both trailing edges of the shells are touching in the deployed position, the shells will be angled more ramping more air forward.

Im going to have to do a test to see what angle provides the most reverse thrust. i can just close them slightly in incriments and tape the gap untill i get max reverse power. Then i will know where they need to be cut.

Holy crap dude! Nice work! How they gonna actaute? 3.5 gram servos?

Nah, one servo inboard of the nacelle. Just a simple Y linkage is needed.

That was childs play. Now nice work would be to make them on arms, but who wants to deal with that!

Are they gonna be sturdy enough for fully functional reverse thrust?

That will make landing this jet a million times easier especially when our scale is too small for brakes.

Maybe you should consider an APU instead of batteries, it goes better with this level of detail.

Yeah sure they will be fine. They need to withstand the thrust of the fans, just like sticking your hand in back. actually minus some but close. These are version 1.0 and being revised already.

The only drawback to these reversers, is the "fish mouth" kinda side profile of the tailpipe rather than straight. Cant stick the thrust tube back that far because then it conflicts the clamshell movement.



I'll do some more thinking on it, but it seems a small price to pay for so simple a reverser.

Here is an example of how the thrust reverser actuates (Mind you not on an 83, but concept is the same)

thrust reverse (0 min 43 sec)
(Turn off volume..loud)

Have to go up and around thrust tube. Small sacrifice doing a direct rotation IMO.

Troy (Pongo) finished up the passenger window stickers. They are even on a nice adhesive backing for ease of application. Beautiful professional work! I thank him for stepping up to do this job

There are two types to try, solid and ones with an outline
