Thoughts on the Ultrafly P51D w/ Retracts

I have an Ultrafly Extra 300s and like it. I noticed they have a really nice looking P-51D with retracts and flaps!

Anyone have experience with these? Anyone where to get one? No luck on internet and just emailed company in Taiwan.

I have the Mustang and the Warhawk by Ultrafly. Both are great flying models, but I haven't seen anyone carrying them for a while. If you do find the Mustang, replace the retracts with the Great Planes retracts. Much sturdier. There is a huge thread here in RC Groups and you should be able to find it.

buzz comments on the retracts is spot on!, I have this plane and use the GP .10 size retracts which work good, no flaps though because this plane will slow down and....of course, depends on your flyin' skill too.

As where to find one I don't know but someone else might chime in.

I have a NIB UF P-51 sitting under the bench, right next to my NIB HYP P-51 (.25e size).

The UF flies very well and is pretty durable. I flew on 200-400 watts using different batteries. I got tierd of messing around with the retracts, so I took them out and belly flopped it for over a year. Hand launch is not super easy, but it is doable with the right amount of thrust and a good arm. My first UF 51 finally died on a launch when I put a smaller but more pitchy prop on it, then I sissy arm launched it. Sigh.

For my next build, I will use this motor on 3s and a 10x5 prop. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=2106

I will also use two small metal gear servos for the retracts. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=2106 I will not mess around with the flaps as they simply are not needed.
