Brushless at last! :-)

Hi Gang

I finally got my first brushless. Wow! It's one of the new MEGA motors - a 22/20/4. First test today shows a lot of promise.
On 8x500AR (I still need to get appropriate cells) it swung a MA 10X6 8000rpm at 24 amps.
Best part is the price: App. USD 190 for both motor and Jeti 40amp ESC. This includes the 25% sales tax we suffer from here. This would make the export price to the US around USD 150! Looks like brushless is really starting to get affordable.

I'm pretty sure I can acheive a model with an AUW of less than 1 kg. with this motor on 8 or 10 Panasonic 2000mah NiMH cells. That should really rock at over 200 watts pr. kg.

What I really like about this motor is its ability to swing a big prop without the need for a gearbox.

Anyone else have this motor (besides Giacomo )

Michael

Just ordered one one of the small Jeti brushless ESCs from ABC online in germany. Price with shipping was something on the order of $54.00 I'll be ordering more from them I am sure. Ordered Monday, card was immediately charged and I should have it, based on others experience, in the next couple of days.

Brushless is certainly down to where it compares to cobalt brush motors and controllers....

The MEGA site is here:
http://web.telecom.cz/megamotor/

Not a lot of information there. I have previously been that happy owner of a Mini 7E brushed motor. You get very good quality for the money spent. Incidentally the brushless motors are pretty much the same price as the brushed ones.
Mega also make a smaller version of the motor (100grams) but these are not on the homepage.

We will be carrying both the Jeti brushless and mega motors with Jeti speed controls. The prices should be very very good. We expect to be able to sell the smaller jeti motor or mega motor with the appropriate speed control for $140.00! Will announce the availablity when we get them in!
