Graupner speed gear motor 6501

Would the "GRAUPNER SPEED GEAR MOTOR 6501" with a 480 motor work on a Tug boat?

dont see why it can't work, I have the Graupner southampton and it has two geared drives, as has the graupner pollux.

If I buy it, it will be the Graupner speed gear motor 6501, 3.45:1 reduction ratio and 7.2volts with 480 motor. It's 9 am EST and the auction ends in 5 hours if I'm really interested.

Prop size still matters. 400-family motors are near their limit with a 45mm prop, but the high gear ratio will help.

It's a nice motor and planetary gearbox, get it anyway. If not perfect for the tug, something else will come along!

Sort of what I was thinking. Maybe it could be used in a Springer type model, something that needs power but not really large. 40 or 45mm prop would be about right.

I can only imagine! I acquired 4 Marx Decaperm 6V 2.75:1 motors a couple of years ago but haven't found a project for them yet. They all work perfectly, along with their 12V Hectoperm brother that came with them. There's a partially built Angles Gate Tug that will probably receive the 12V.

Some day I may even finish up one of the many boats I have under construction .
