Help!
Hangar 9 P-40 .60 Warhawk Setup options

Hi all,

Well I have this stunning warbird for 3 months now, and after completing a few other projects first, It's time to let this one loose in the sky.

I was wondering which electric motor is gonna be the best one to choose out of the below 2. Looking for scale flight but also speed when needed for those low passes

Motor 1: TURNIGY 50-55A 400kv Outrunner

Motor 2: TGY AerodriveXp 46 SK Series 50-55 580Kv / 1580w

Will be using a 80amp ESC and 6S 5000mah 20c lipo.

Prop size thinking of a 14x7E or 13x8

Also thinking of going seperate on ubec regarding the retracts.

Well if you guys have any advise or suggestion to which motor between the 2 I would really appreciate your comments.

Hi,

I don't know anything about those motors, but the prop size seems a way to small. My H-9 Spitfire flies very well with a power 60 on 6-S and an APC 16 x 10E, so I'm thinking that you want something that will turn a prop that size.

I was contemplating all manner of receiver and retract power options, but decided to keep it simple - I'm using only a single UBEC for everything, but note that I am using the proper JR retract servo, which apparently will return to the opposite position if stalled for too long.

Cheers!
Glen

Hi Glen,

thanks for the reply, yes I understand what you are getting at.

Motor 1 is like the power 60 and yes the prop size i refered to is the lowest I will go.

Your prop size is huge but I was thinking of around the same size. Only problem for me is, cant get a power 60 in stock this side need to import then and takes to long hehe. So these are my choices but if I get a power 60 in SA i will take it. But thanks for the reply
