Airtronics RDS8000 8 Ch 2.4G Mode2 w/1-Tx/1-Rx Only RDS8000

Anyone out there familiar with this system? The price seems very reasonable to me. I have an Airtronics 5 channel that works just fine, except for the fact that it doesn't have the capabilities that I need for DLG flying. I should have done a bit more investigating before I bought. Se la vi! :-(

I've been flying my DLG on the RDS-8000 and 8ch Rx for a couple of months now, almost every day (yes, DLG is very addictive!). No issues at all. Seems like a rock solid system. The Tx can do pretty much everything you need, although it lacks a couple of handy features. You can program the 2-position gear retract switch for a launch preset if you are right handed thrower, but it isn't spring loaded. You just have to remember to flick it off right after launch. If you forget, or are late doing it then your plane will loop. I also haven't figured out how to do snap flaps yet for coupling in small amounts of camber change when moving the elevator. Basic programming is straight forward and easy, but some of the custom mixing can get a little confusing. It works though. A serious competition flyer will want the more capable SD-10G, but the RDS-8000 isn't a bad one to start with.

I agree, I have one, because it came with 2 receivers. I used it for a little while untill my sd-10g came in. It works for basic programming, but was a little shy on mix availability for my taste. I repleced the 2 pos. gear switch with a spring loaded toggle and it works great. You can have the TX for $50 if you want it.
