I too have used a 2s lipo for testing. theres really no stress thats put on it as the 380 brushed motor just doesnt draw much power. Id say it gets warm and thats it.
Just make sure you dont drain your lipo down below 3.2 v per cell. theres no lipo cutoff on this esc.

Just received mine and am wondering if there is supposed to be a set screw in the prop hub. I have an empty threaded hole.

check the other side. there are two grub screw holes in the prop hub, only one side has a grub screw.

is quickly getting cooler in Wisconsin. No I have not monitered stress temperature.I did do a break in of the brushed moter before running
I suspect this extra power may shorten the life of the brushed moter,
So i will likely convert it over to brushless sometime this winter.

Thanks for the info. Let us know which brushless motor works best for you. I will try the lipo option. I guess I will try to match up the weight or the originals and not go over too much.

Nice boat and a great review of it and it's performance. I noticed that the prop is pulling instead of pushing as in most airboats. What's up with that? Pete

It is hard to find pusher props in hobby stores, so often airboat guys mount the engine so it pulls. Apparently, simply mounting a puller prop backwards (curved side to the engine) does not do the trick for pushers, though I don't know why.

For glowplug engines, some carberators work better one way; since most engines are made for airplanes, it's often easier to mount the engine per puller-airplane practice. This would not be a factor for a brushless electric motor, but might be a factor for a brushed motor since brushed engines are timed to optimize one direction of revolution.

A friend of mine got one of these for his son ,I was driving it when he hit me right in the middle of the cage with the boat he was driving. It broke the cage and sent two pieces flying that wern't even glued in all the way. I should point out that the "one piece cage" is misleading , or rather a straight up lie. The cage is a molded piece on the front connected by dowles (and if lucky glue) to another molded rear cage section....besides all that it worked after the crash and for the price I would buy it,in fact I told him out of guilt I would buy it from him if he wanted to get his son a new one.
