Walkera 5#10 brushless setup

I've finally modified my Walkera 5#10 to increase flight time while maintaining original weight and its wonderful stable flying characteristics. Now I'm getting 16 minutes Videos and pics are posted here.

I used the AEO setup from Terrance and it worked a treat. In fact it worked so well I transplanted it into a friends 5#4Q5 with a 5G4Q3 Airwolf fuselage on it running 1000mAh 2S packs and it still flies great giving about 8 minutes. I made a 20mm shaft extender for the inner shaft as well which has eliminated any blade strike issues running the larger blades. If you are around chrissy, post a couple of pics

Walkera 5#10 brushless setup with Blade CX2 canopy.
With Tenergy 7.4v 500mAh battery pack, 194 grams, 9-10 minutes flight time.
With Tenergy 7.4v 900mAh battery pack, 205 grams, 15-17 minutes flight time.
Very stable, maneuverable, and predictable flying characteristics. Not meant for outdoors.

Setup
Motor: C10 Brushless
RX: Walkera RX2413 with built in GYRO
TX: Walkera 2801 PRO (You need this to fine-tune the throttle curve and exponential options on the controls)
Blades: Airy Harden Blade II
Canopy: Blade CX2
Speed control: Castle creations Thunderbird 9
Brush to brushless converter: Dual converter by RTF-Heli
Battery: Tenergy 7.4v, 500mAh or 900mAh

I've experimented with many other alternatives out there when I was converting and trying to figure out which setup provided long flight time while maintaining the weight and flying characteristics, and this is the best that I have found. I've tried various walkera 4-1 RX, Eflite 4-1 RX, premade conversion kits (3 total from different sources), but some of them did not operate properly and were unstable. Just want to share my setup so that someone may use it as reference.

Great job on the mods rcastab.
Thoes C10 Brushless motors did they just drop into position? I have two 5#10s sitting in a draw with broken Rxs and motors. With a brushless set up my 5#10s could fly again.

You specifically say "Not for outdoors". Why? If I went through all that trouble, I'd sure as heck would want it to fly outdoors. My situation is such that this size of heli is too big for me to fly in my house. On a different note, how much $$$$$$$$$$$ did you spend on this conversion as opposed to just stepping up to one of the brushless coax's?

Yes you are right Kodak_Jack I spent a lot of money experimenting on this setup, but my main goal was to improve the flight time and maintain stock flying characteristics which is the reason why this is my favorite heli, and not to be able to fly outdoors. The weight of this heli is just too small for it to handle even low wind. But with this setup, I'm able to fly this heli indoors in a living room comfortably. This is my favorite heli to fly indoors and wanted to enhance and improve it, and it took a lot of trial and error but I'm satisfied with the outcome.

-yes the C10 fits right in where the stock motors go.

toilet paper obstacle course

Hanging toilet papers are 55-inches apart in our living room, running with the Tenergy 500 mAh battery. Near the end I intentionally hit the hanging toilet papers

This video will show the maneuverability of this setup. Hmmm, I wonder how well the other types of coaxials in the same weight class will perform in the hanging toilet paper course

Hello what brushless coaxil are you referring to. As far as I know you have to upgrade every coaxil out there to brushless. Please let me kno if you found one.

I thought the Lama 3 and maybe a few others came brushless? Granted, they're mega buck heli's, but they can be had. I guess the 400D and Big Lama get converted afterwards.

ooops, thats right - I forgot the LM3 ... so I know actually two coaxes that are already set up brushless from the factory ... everything else I know has to be converted ...
