Thanks, Morris! If I can't get one from Flytron, I'll probably end up with one of those.

Yes lots of them. At that price it was the best option to record my flights from the FPV system.

Going to fly today. It is cold but I need a fix. FPV of course. Will try the patch and inverted V. Will report.

Flight report from the esquimo and polar bear land !

Lots of things to report today. Weather was very nice, mostly sunny and no wind so the -5 C was very comfortable.

The FPV carry case is very nice. I put everything in there except radio, tripod and blackbox for the monitor. Much faster to set up the GS with everything on hand in the same case. Less trip to the car too

Tried the inverted V antenna. Very good. Although there was still some static sometimes, I had no black out. I felt very confident about the video link. I had very good range and some black spots in the field were good to fly over now. Even going behind the club shelter was much better even thought this put the metal roof between the VTx and VRx.

Didn't try the patch, I had enough range, maybe too much: I experienced failsafe with the DX7. For God knows why, I had turn myself around and my body was bertween the DX7 and the plane while I was about 2500 feet away what an adrenaline rush ! I could regain control by moving the transmitter over my head, but it was glitchy ! The plane made a roll and almost entered a spin before I could get full revery. The dragonlink is defenitely the next buy !!! Until then, I'll have to watch myself from the air before going far away so I can see if I'm facing the correct way

I repositionned the camera lower on the plane's nose so the view angle is much better. I can see the plane's nose and I like that. Balance is also much better with the VTx on the tail and the glide ratio is way better. All in all, a very nice day ! I even drained the Haier's lipo as there was 6 club members that took turns looking at the flights. Sorry no flycam on the plane...waiting for the Aiptek

Sorry for the long post,

Carguy

I also thought about the safety of the long range UHF.... before I spend megabucks I am going to try a 1w Wifi booster that should increase the range to a few miles as stated in this thread

I'm jealous! Warming up here, but very windy today.

Sounds like you are making good progress each time you get out there. Looking forward to some Aiptek video, I learn from my video, I watch them over and over.

PS. Long posts are good!

Yes I must say it goes well. I'f I'd be to follow MAAC rules and fly body box with a spotter this is all I would need. But my goal is a bit different, although I plan to fly plenty at the club's field. I found on Youtube there is also FPV gatherings in Quebec so I'd like to attend at least one this summer. I think the opportunity to learn from such a meeting would be great. I really like what we are doing here (I'd miss my daily "FPv diary" tread if it would end , I'm kinf of addicted to both FPV and this tread), but I'd like to see in person what others are doing. Here is a link of what they do (practice your french with quebec's accent ):

Looks like fun for sure. Was looking into having a FPV get together at my club. The club seemed willing, but the FPVers don't want to have to comply with the AMA rules.

I forgot to mention: While flying today I had the chance to follow some planes. Since my AXN is so good to take off from snow, others have bought it and I could follow one. Very fun and easy because both planes fly at the same speed. The leader just have to let you know in adcance of his maneuvers and go smooth and it is easy.

Another one had a funjet on steroids and did some fast passes beside my AXN and wow ! doesn it go fast ! Seeing that from the cockpit was great ! Unfortunately he crashed it. Not much chance with foam when it is freezing... I also tried to follow a stryker, but it is very hard if you don't coordinate your flights and the other plane is too fast.

From now on I'll always record the flights, too many good things to miss if I don't

Wind doesn't blow..it Sucks!

No FPV'ng Here lately, I've had the Cub ready to go for 2 weeks now but the wind has just been relentless along the Colorado Front Range.
I did Fly it today with the video equipment installed for a trial, but the wind just made it too dicey.
