Certainly is sow on the forums these days. Any of you sub to FPVlab to see what's going on there ? I've been there a bit lately and looks like a lot of people moved there because they are pissed at RCG.

I know a few people got upset, but didn't read what they did to get in the bad books. I do know that some strong minded people that aren't on here anymore probably deserved it.

They are friends of mine. I like them because of that straight talking open minded side. But it doesn't wash so well on here? I get that.

That's what's bad with forums, written posts can't give the mood, expression and emotion of what the people had in mind. What is perceived would sometimes be totally different if it would have been said in person.

LOL, I don't think that was the case with these guys. Pretty sure that the tone they showed at the end was exactly what they wanted to show.
But you are right, in some cases it is hard to convey tone. Maybe though that means that people should be better at writing due to that.

there has been some very heated and ugly discussions in the past and to be honest I think this has calmed down considerably since some people have been chastised ...
the FPVLAB seems OK and I am registered in there but to be quite frank I don't really like the style and I still feel that RCGROUPS is the main place to be if you are a regular forum follower.
I haven't got the time these days to follow many forums which in fact are a duplication of what we find here.

And although Art's thread has slowed down a bit, I am looking forward to meet what I now consider my friends in here

so unless there is a mass exodus I am staying put

Agreed ! I like RCG and this tread is a fun place to chat with good people I guess we'll have to make some videos of new adventures to share. That would have already been done if you guys all had bought a Summit

I do think that FPV lab is much better when it comes to more detailed info and attracting industry people from the FPV world.

The weather here has been so nasty I haven't given much though to flying. However if the wind doesn't come up, Saturday has possibilities.

PD-100 Micro UAV Heli deployed

I just saw a news clip that the 15gm Proxdynamics PD-100 micro UAV-heli has just been deployed in Afghanistan. There was one thread for this in the micro heli section, but this is dead, so I thought I would post the following info into more widely followed threads and create new ones under micro helis, UAV and FPV threads.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21313323

Searching for "PD-100" gave some specs, the most amazing of which were:

UAV
Rotor Span 120 mm, Mass 15 gr including Camera (0.5 gm servos)
Maximum Speed 10 m/s, Endurance up to 30 minutes
Digital Data Link, Range 1000 m Line-of-Sight
GPS Navigation or Visual Navigation through Video
Autopilot with Autonomous and Directed Modes
Hover & Stare, Automatic Search Patterns, Preplanned Routes

Sensors
Steerable EO Camera (pan/tilt)
Live Video and Snapshot Images

http://www.proxdynamics.com/products/pd_100_prs/

A Youtube clip of the way a prototype handles wind gusts and hands-off-hover is remarkable:
PD-100 Prototype - Flight testing (2 min 28 sec)

It was obvious that something like this was planned, but I didn't think I'd see it for a few more years
As for when it's equivalent hits the hobby market.....?

A lot of functions on that one. I put 2 axis camera mount on my slow stick once but it was huge compared to what they have on there!!

And the video states its 2009. Since that, it must be more advance. Remember what you thought about the MCX micro heli when it got out, the MSR and then the MCPX with collective pitch. Awsome little machines. And the multicontrollers that we have now ? The technology will just progress at a faster pace since theselittle machines bring lots of interest.

Hey all !

The Tonka Sumit project is coming to completion soon. Tonka body install finished and installed lower compare to the plast pics I posted. The DL is installed, lots of wiring but nothing apparent under truck and in Tonka. The video system is installed but the camera positionning is what I am testing to obtain the view I want. I want to see the driver's arms, dash and co-pilot like if I was in the car. Should finish that this week end.

Then I'll get on the tricopter. It needs to shed some weight and I'll shorten the arms and redo the wiring using the power distribution on the KK board. Also will lose its motor mounts since I'll just screw the motors bases to the arms.

I also just ordered a PZ0420 FPV camera for the Skywalker since it lost his to the summit. I've always been pleased with this cam, the new one should be a bit better. I'll install it on pan and tilt, been wanting that for a while and after trying pan and tilt on the summit just MUST have it on the plane.

I should get in the air soon, really looking forward to it. Stay tuned !

So, what are YOU guys doing ? Some fun lately (FPV I mean) ?
