Um... Who ME??? That's on the down low... You know the BOSS and all... Laugh... yeah... Sometimes I can't help my self... but the wife doesn't complain as long as I stay in budget and I don't clutter everything up... The second is actually the harder of the two...

I still need to get me one of those #11 cameras and lenses...

Hey, My wife asked me last night why I was taking pictures of a $5 bill with her camera... She thought the antenna sitting on it was used to hold it down... hehe...
Think if I put the kadet senior on top of a $5 she wouldn't notice it????

I have an arrangement with my wife: I don't show her the boxes, she doesn't notice them...and of course, never show the bills I think she has voluntary blindness about the RC incomings now...used to make her stress a bit more before A chance, because one cannot hide a 7 feet twin otter for very long...

I'm pretty good at staying within the budget... I try to buy cheap, but (hopefully) well thought out purchases... That's one of the reasons I started watching this thread... Art was having great results with components that are within my budget... When I started looking into FPV everyone else was recommending fpv equipment that would total near a thousand dollars... Then I found this thread, and the rest is history... Hopefully I'll be posting some fpv video's before too long...

I'm also impressed by the results with the HK equipment. If I had seen this tread before, maybe that is what I would have bought. I'm quite happy with what I've got thought.

Art, I was wondering if the clover leaf would work on 900 mhz for using on GS as an omni on one receiver with patch on another in diversity ? That with the "v" on the plane.

That's exactly what I was thinking.. on the cheap. A whole kit can slide under the wife's radar and you can get up and running quickly. But then my dilemma..

If you know you're in FPV for the long haul, is it cheaper in the end to get the parts you ultimately want rather than continuously upgrade pieces? For me, I was thinking it would. So, my kit has been a work in progress for 4 months now and I took my first 'real' FPV flight just a week ago; and the project isn't done yet.

I also noticed on the FPV Equipment Sale thread (which I have been frequenting OFTEN) that the high end parts often sell for just $10-$30 less than retail. So, I'm hoping that worst case scenario, I'll lose a couple hundred in selling the kit piece by piece. By frequenting Craigslist, eBay, and the sale threads on RCG and rcuniverse, I've found some great deals. But don't start looking now if you don't already.. I don't need the competition. I HATE when someone grabs a great deal for something I need; and it happens all too often.

It would probably work, but you do lose quite
bit from the mismatch of antenna polarization. I think you would do just as well with a dipole, rubber ducky, or other omni.

As far as the HK FPV gear goes, nothing wrong with buying high end equipment, I just like to experiment.

I tough a cloverleaf ant. wwas just a better omni with the same "donut" radiation pattern. So what is the difference ?

antenna polarization.

Anyone have a link to that video explaining polarization thats been floating around this forum?

I found it;
