Wrong cell count on Phoenix HV140

Ive got a new Phoenix HV 140 and just up-dated the firmware and powered it up for the first time for a bench test.

On a 1/2 charged (19 volts) 5S pack Im getting 10 beeps for the cell count.

Ive tried 3.24 and 3.20 with the same results.

Cut off is set to auto lipo 3.2 volts per cell.

I'll try some other pack sizes and settings but I was wondering if anyone else has seen this issue or if its just me.

Thanks.

Ive tried a variety of different settings and they all behave the same way.

With a 5S pack I get 10 beeps.

With a 7S pack I get 3 beeps.

With a 10S pack I get 6 beeps.

Must be something wrong with this controller which is a bummer.

It seems to start and run the motor ok with no load. Havent tried it with a prop. Where there is one problem there may be others so I guess I'll send it back.

I don’t think that the cell counter was intended to be used with 1/2 charged packs. Using a HV ESC with such a low voltage may be causing the auto cell counter a problem.

I always use the Castle Link to manually set the exact cutoff voltage that way I know it will always be correct. When you manually set the cutoff voltage it turns off the auto-count feature and you won’t get the cell count tones.

Normally I do like you and set the voltage myself but Im playing with different setups on the bench.

I'll try it again with fully charged packs and see if thats the problem. You could be correct on that - although how it decides a 5S is 10 beeps and a 7S is 3 beeps makes me wonder

Fully charging the packs didnt fix it but it did change the count.

Fully charged 5S gives 11 beeps and fully charged 10S gives 8 beeps.

Its broke.

Maybe you could try downloading the software again and reloading the firmware. Maybe the firmware got scrambled or you got a bad download.

Yes -- sounds broken...

Try reloading the software like RC Man suggested, and if that doesn't help, contact us for a replacement.

Thanx!

I tried re-loading the firmware with no change. Called support and they sent me a replacement ASAP along with a return envelope to send the bad one back.
