Ok, so I hooked up my dps rclander 68 mm from hobby king and it only took 4 hours. Turned i it on and lots of vibration. Take out the fan again and half the fan is on the eff wall and the shaft is off center like 20 degrees.

Whoa!! 6s with the stock motor. Now that is some kahunas.

If you really want a rocket ride on 6s get this motor.
I have it both my Cougar and the F-105.
Both are 6 lb planes and will hover on 6s.
The big, big, big, I mean big half Cuban 8's are impressive.

Boogie,

Was looking at that motor and it says for 3S/4S and 5S says "extreme care should be taken"...it handles 6S well?

It is, as Boogie notes, a "rocket ride" on 6s. These are awesome motors, capable of incredible power. Bought one, put it in a Skyworld alloy housing and dropped it into an FMS F4 - big enuf for 6s 2600's. Plane takes off in about 10' and is a bullet; but flight time is 2 minutes. Now looking for a new home to drop it into.

You should only charge it at 4amps though. It maybe too big to fit under the canopy

This

and
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=17242
are better choices

The charger is only 50w so you will be charging for a long time.
An alternative good choice is this

So.... fellas, what would bet the optimum choice for a stock setup that will fit without any mods?

Put zippy 4000 in mine and hoffman fan with 150 amp esc. Only get 3 to 3.5 min but plenty of thrust. I did have to cut out some foam infront of battery tray. Made it so thin you could see through it. Glassed the tray and had to add alittle weight to the tail. But it had so much power that it forced the thrust tube 2 inches out the back of the plane. Flew it two in 20 mph winds and at landing a gust stopped it 4 feet above the runway. Minor gear damage again but it was a cool landing.

Yep, this motor loves life on 6s.
It also makes a ton of power on 5s. In fact, I usually fly the Thud and Coug' on 5s and only use 6s when I want to show off. ...so about every other flight.

Needs some good batteries.
I'm runnin' 5000mAh 40C packs (3s+2s or 3s+3s)

But a fan upgrade would be needed too. I'm sure it would blow up the stock rotor.
Use an HET or WeMo.

And a beast like this will need to be properly installed.
On my high power set-ups I make small washers out of circuit board to use as a spacer between the motor and fan housing. Keeps heat away from the plastic. ...yes I've melted a fan housing with it.

Needs slotted tape supporting the motor at the back edge of the fan housing.
Remove any stickers that may be on the motors and make sure the cooling ring is nice and tight.

I still don't think even this Arc 28-58-1 would make this jet fast. But it would leap off the ground and have some very impressive vertical performance.

I just bought these and they fit under the canopy just fine and the weight difference btwn these and the 3300 4s 40c Sky's that I've been using is only 22g, so should be negligable effects on the CG.

I'll let you know how they work out as far as punch and time of flight.

Thanks foamjunkie, will the 5.5mm bullet connecters fit the stock connecters on the esc? On the Hobby King version?

Will be watching to see how you like them.

Regards

Meanwhile, will be lookin to the US Warehouse of HK to see what may work...any further tips fellas?

Not sure if this is the right thread or not. Just ordered the F-86 Skyblazers from HK. I see they use electric retracts instead of pnuematic with this version. Hopefully it has better retracts than the Vampy came with. I'll probably fly stock for a while before considering borrowing my good CS-10 setup out of my Vampire.

*update* scratch that. Decided to go with the FMS P-38 from BH instead. Got enough jets for a while including the 35 and the 50mm versions and a Panther I still need to play with. (didn't really want to k-ball my Vampire anyway.)
