2.4 transmitter

Proprietary Nine Eagles, airplane version.

You cannot use a Spektrum, Futaba, Hitec , etc...

You cannot use the Nine Eagles transmitters for heli.

They won't bind to the Nine Eagles Airplane receivers.

Neat little plane. Mini Easy Star. Do you have a link to the supplier?

Suppliers website: http://www.nineeagle.com/en/p.asp?pid=71

Unfortunately, it doesn't show pricing or who distributes.

I've been looking for something like this, but don't need the electronics. Curious if the EPO parts will be available from HK.

Maiden Report

Finally got out to the field to try it.

The good news: The prop doesn't pop off in flight. Well it shouldn't since it's pushing into the holder.

Flies nicely but some minor set up issues:

1)When you power up, it tends to dip the nose first, before climbing. My friend thinks the down thrust is off, I'm not so sure.

2) Had to put in a few clicks of down elevator, otherwise it porpoises badly, which may imply an issue with the tailplane incidence? BTW the tailplane is glued in the factory.

3) Still haven't got CG right, which may have contributed to the porpoising.

2 and 3 are related so it's a question of finding the right battery position which will give a good power off glide angle with (hopefully) neutral trims.

Will try some glide tests with different battery positions before flying it again. (This brings back memories of setting up Firebird type pushers.)

Much nicer to fly than the Cessna (which has to be flown fast).

Sky Runner Spare Part numbers

Here are the part numbers for body parts:

NE401772004A - Removable Steel Wire 2 (= Pushrod set)
NE4770012 - Removable Rod Adjustment set 2 (= horns, clevises etc)
NE401772003A Wing set ( includes carbon spar)
NE401772006A Vertical Tail & Horizontal Tail set
NE401772002A Body Set (fuselage and canopy)

Not yet showing up on google, but they will.

BTW NE4770012 - Removable Rod Adjustment set 2 is the same part set as for the Cessna

Also uses the same receiver set as the cessna (NE4615001)

The prop is a pusher 100mm diameter.

DSM2 modification

If you can get the body parts, it should be possible to stick in a dsm2 receiver/servo block + esc and do the BL mod done with the PZ sukhois and run it off your Spektrum radio.

A 1 cell BL mod and then run a 500mah single cell for long flight times.

I've experienced this before with high thrust line models. The main issue is that the motor down thrust acts as soon as the motor is throttled up, but the elevator authority doesn't change until models speed increases. If you adjust the motor thrust line, to prevent the pitch down on throttle up, the plane will tend to over rotate nose up when the airspeed increases. Some fine tuning of the thrust line and tailplane incidence may help, but total removal of the effect is not likely.

I find that gentle motor acceleration or pulling back slightly on the elevator when rapidly increasing the throttle helps.

Here is a link in German. Is that price in Euros? That would be what, about $125 USD?
