J-power F-86 Crash on takeoff

all I can figure is I threw it wrong, I think I got in a hurry and let go to soon and didnt give it a good toss. it just flipped over right away after leaving my hand.

it looks like you flicked your wrist a little and gave the plane a bit of a roll

Flying low is expensive.

I second the flicked wrist. Just git it a good shove! Straight into the horizon and a good push. You probably couldn't correct because it was more of a toss than a throw and there was no air over the wings to flip it back over.

That happened to me with my 70mm F-22 once when I was trying to get it airborne for the first time. My friend just threw it too hard and it torqued 180 degrees into the ground. After that I started giving it more smooth, controlled, gentle throws.

Sorry to see that.

Sorry to see that happen. That is never fun on a first flight.

I don't go with the wrist-flick cause. At what position was your throttle? Was that full throttle?

To me, it didn't look like the toss was strong enough or that the plane was generating enough thrust.

While I couldn't see what you were doing with the sticks between the time it flipped and the time it hit the ground, the appearance from behind (calm) and the delayed reaction is priceless.

Best to have someone launch for you, that way you already have both hands on the radio for a quick response if need be !

Happy Flying !

nickelbn1,

I didn't laugh my heart dropped thinking how much that sucks to crash on the maiden. Here is my professional assessment:
1) The plane rolled due to the torque of the motor
2) Aileron misalignment
3) You not fast enough to correct the misalignment after the plane left your hand
4) Darn bad luck

I had a Synapse which I couldn't get airborne for the first 12 attempts. I found out that I had to keep the throttle at half thrust until it had enough air passing over the wings.

Just my 2 cents

John

On second thought after re-watching the vid and turning on the sound, you squeezed the plane on launch. You can hear the motor RPM drop at you released the plane. This in turn caused the motor to increase RPM while being launch thus rolling the plane; anyone else hear this?
