Paul speaking....."You know that I worked to support myself and those who were with me."
Elsewhere Paul alludes to the fact that a worker is worthy of his hire...ie. to be paid.
But, because Paul wanted nothing said about how he made his living concerning his ministry, which he could have done under Christ with donations from the congregations, he refuses them. He is entitled but in order to set the perfect example, he supports himself. This is a far cry from saying that those in the service of the Lord Jesus should not be paid.

Well, i hope nobody stresses out over that concept.....

You need to shake another tree to get "not paying ministers" out of that.

Maybe the force isn't as strong with you as I thought.

Now for your lesson for the night.

The first time Jesus sent the disciples out:

Mark 6:7-9 (King James Version)

7And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

8And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:

9But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.

The Second time he sent the out:

Luke 22:35-37 (King James Version)

35And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.

36Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

37For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.

That you might not remain ignorant about these things I freely share this with you.

These threats of utter destruction made by Jesus should be especially calming to believers and put their minds at ease.

After pumping up his Apostles with promises of power, Jesus is pleased that God only lets the ignorant and naive listen to him (God doesn't like wise or prudent people):
If only you could see what it is really saying, but to do that it would have to be through the eyes of a believer.

To you. And willing something and knowing something will happen because of the heart of people is two different things and two different visions. But you either cannot or do not want to see that.

Oh and how is the popcorn...getting stale.

No criticism and no deflection, just a statement about what you either will or cannot see. As I said, through the eyes of a believer those verses are not a condemnation, but rather a knowledge of what they will lead themselves into.

It would be like someone telling Custer that he was riding into hell being the same thing as sending him to hell. Big difference.

For many believers that have heard over and over that their god loves them... it is very difficult, if not impossible to view his unseemliness.

It is impossible for Christians to disregard Paul even though he endorsed slavery while many of his contemporaries had concluded it abhorrent.

Paul was the first corrupter of the doctrines of Jesus" -- Thomas Jefferson

Jefferson didn't have much insight into who Christ is. Hence, i disregard many of his musings about Christianity.
During the earthly ministry of Jesus, He didn't destroy any cities. The above verse concerns the citizens of those cities who will on day stand in judgement. The reason being is that the Jews in those cities had no excuse for denying Him. They had seen the miracles, seen the prophecies fulfilled, and had knowledge that the Messiah would come one day. If we are judged, it is according to what we know. So, compared to Sodom, those people would receive a greater punishment. Don't forget that basically the whole nation of Israel rejected Christ, their King. They lost the Kingdom that day and 40 years later they lost the Temple and their Promised Land. They even said to Jesus....let Your blood be upon us and our children. Looks like they got what they asked for, eh?
