LOL!
I'd rather take Tom's version: free of cost, hire & fire at will...

@Tom: You're a naughty boy! She's done a good job. I've seen much worse.
And you should have explained to her how she should catch it on tape. Holding the Tx up without a warning and expecting a crystal clear vid of both is asked too much.

And pleeeze: be very careful in that danger zone you're flying.
You don't know yet how the copter reacts in certain situations.

Imaging this scenery:
You're flying high when suddenly wind catches the copter and throws it into the high voltage wires. They produce a shortage with hugh flashes. One driver gets irritated and steers into the oncoming traffic.

... or you overdoze the "hands free flying" and drop the Tx or accidently bump the sticks and the copter flies directly into your video girl's face. Then SHE'll have a reason to fire YOU!

Revision #522 is the latest code and it's pretty stable.
Do you use SVN? I added a description to my blog.

Mike, if you are using KDA 20-22L - how do yours start? Smoothly or with a distinguished jerking? Today I've got mine from Hobbycity along with "Mystery 20A Blue" ESC's. When I start a motor, it always does this with some jerks. Afterwards it runs very smoothly unless I stop it and start again.
Tried all variations of soft start, timing, etc on the ESC, but to no avail. The effect holds with all four ESC and all four motors...

Igor - My motors start really smoothly - no jerking at all - Might be your ESC's?

Kinderkram - What is SVN?

All four of them? Really strange...

Igor

Later edit: well, there is a buyer's comment on hobbycity about sudden jumps with Mystery ESC. Must be it...

After mounting the oilpan and using the configurator I see the gyro working now.
My videographer, my wife, has agreed to video me tomorrow am if the wind will stay light.
At first I didn't see the motors following when I moved the quad but after a reset it followed just fine.
I'll go with the basic settings and see what happens.

Tom, I might get in a flight yet.

rolex0071 Ha Ha I am here trying to get my Arducopter to fly.
I am also flying my coax and it is not as large a pain in the neck as this Arducopter.
I promise to come back and tease you.

Igor I too have the KDA motors and they start up very smoothly.
I used the Turnigy hand held programmer and set up the Turnigy ESC's for medium on the timing.

Can anyone tell me why I appear to be in acro mode vrs stable mode? I have been adjusting settings in stable mode and the videos I have posted are flown with a quickflashing green led. If I switch modes via my tx it is totally unflyable

Thats funny Mike, I'm totally opposite, my flights are slow blinking led, changes made in stable mode. If I flick the mode switch it wants to destroy itself. I plan on playing with acro mode PID's today. I guess I will start with those I've used it stable, and go from there?

Have you commented out the 'new arco/ stable switching' line? I have but I've been told I should put it back in.

Sounds like the old day's ESC's then they all did this not capable to do a softstart. Timing is the other but you tried that.

I use the Hobby City SS 25 with Turnegy 2217/20.
In Europe the Roxxy 720 (13 Euro) is an alternative!
