Wow. $70 seems rather steep when it looks to me like it's just 4 interlocking rubber tile mats, which you can by at Home Depot (or Canadian Tire) for about $12.00

I just use an old mouse pad. It's not a stylish, but I had it lying around so it was free.

Try your local home improvement store. Mine sells 1/8" hardboard in 2x4' sheets.

For my Belt CP and Honey Bee FP V2, I made the helipad seen below by cutting one of those sheets into three 1x2' pieces and adding hinges between the sections. Folded up, it's only 1x2', but open it's 2x3'. I figure if I can't land on that I need to take up another hobby!

Cost? Under $5!

A heavy duty vinyl $9 disposable shower curtain from Wal-Mart makes a good inexpensive surface for practicing maiden flights.
