I'm converting it to the same connector as my Beast aircraft uses so, I can use the homemade Hyperion 180 packs I made for it. Should work ok, I think, I'm just waiting on delivery of said connector.

Gang,

This is gonna sound dumb, I bet but, I haven't done it before. I got 3 leads on my 2s Beast batteries and 2 going into the ESC. Do I just splice the 2 power leads from the lipo together or ??? IOW, how do I hook this to the existing 2 lead car wiring?

These are homemade 2s packs so they don't have a second lead...only the 3 wire lead

then you have a problem as the balance lead does not have wire that is made to support the ampdraw . you need to solder the proper leads onto them .

these packs support a 2300 Kv brushless aircraft motor, I'm sure they can support the amp draw of a little brushed motor in this car, if I can hook them up right.

actualy your beast air craft may draw less than this as its brushless and way less friction than these cars . remember planes require far less hp than cars to move as with your beast it weighs a fraction of the losi sct and does not run on the ground .
im not saying it will not work just use caution .

How did you put together a 2s pack that only has a lead with 3 wires? Any pictures of it?

yeah, here's the video I used:

Eflite Beast - Hyperion 180 mah 2 cell Lipo Build Video (10 min 37 sec)

Watching this video again, it suggests to me that I can wire the red lead on the battery to the red lead on the ESC wiring and the black lead batt to the black lead on the ESC wiring, because there's a wire balancing the 2 cells draw inside.

This is a full on aerobatic aircraft so, the draw can be pretty high at times, especially since it's swinging a fairly large, steep pitch prop. I'll grant you, it's all up weight is low but, aerodynamic forces need to be considered as well, which magnify the weight and increase amp draw.

Yep, that worked, just red to red, black to black, ignoring the centre wire. Car scoots alot better now.

Those balance lead wires are on the small side to be using as the main power leads, I'd keep an eye on the wire temps.

when going to lipo on these little brushed motors the amp draw increases dramaticly as it was designed around 4.8v not 7.4 as parson suggested keep a close eye on the wire temps . can not compare this truck to any plane its oranges to apples .
im not pickin im just looking out for your best intrests i hope the battery works good for you just be sure to check it .

I hear ya. I think I'll just make some custom packs out of 240 Hyps and go Dean's micro for connectors, as I hate JSTs.

Why not just buy a premade pack?
