Good thread on micro brushless up-grade, I did one in a Champ, the XP-7A esc works on both 1 & 2-S li-po's |

It tends to go right and upwards, almost going to stall with 3/4 or so throttle. This is not so good, especially since I was to start doing some aerobatics... For slow flight is works still ok, but I get bored soon if I cannot try doing something more. Trim doesn't work that much, I think I should either
![]() P.S. Changing the fuse is not an option for the moment. I'm wondering how could I remove and safely put in place again the sensitive stuffs, especially the motor and gearbox... I'm afraid that if the new placement will not be perfect, it could then fly even worse with the new fuse than it is doing now with the bended nose... mmhhh... |

Try not to correct flight performance issues with trim or other control surface changes - a plane should fly with surfaces neutral, and corrections should be made by moving the center of gravity if at all possible.
Since your repairs have you rebalanced the plane with the battery on? T-28 should be balanced inverted, remember. It should also be pretty well balanced upright too. My T-28 had a pretty sharp left bank going and I noticed that when holding the spinner and rudder with a finger tip, the plane would tip left. I added a touch of clay to the right side and the plane is flying great once again. Just to reinforce that the CG balance is not just a fore-aft adjustment, many people overlook left-right balance. If CG is spot on, then you may need to adjust the thrust - many of these little guys require the prop to point slightly down and to the right (2-3degrees) because of their slight weight. Given that you had to reform the nose quite a bit, this may be the issue, but it's an easy fix. |

I have found, particularly with the Cubs, but maybe with the T28, that a frontal collision can sometimes change the thrust line. They are generally delivered with down and side thrust. Any raising of the thrust line promoted a climb, particularly as the throttle is increased.

Mitsubishi t-28 Zero
Not content with buzzing around in a 1950s trainer while my friend ripped it up in his mustang I have begun Japanifying my T-28 after noticing it looks a lot like a Zero. I also read somewhere that the Comemorative Air Force has used real t-28s as zeros in their shows. If the T-28 is good enough for them, it's good enough for me!
It's probably been done before, but here it is. I've since removed the paint on the vertical stabilizer using scotch tape to peel it off, though I may make a new more rounded tail out of the takeout packaging from tonight's sushi. I found a Tamiya Zero decal sheet on Google images that I printed for the decals, they're even pretty close in scale, though it's not like it's hard making red circles! Anyways, I'm not sayin' it's a work of art, but maybe it's enough to inspire someone else to do a better job. I haven't worked up the courage to round the wingtips like on a real zero, I figure I need all the lift I can get with my flying! Happy Thanksgiving.

EDIT: I wrote this moments before seeing your post F18 :-) Your suggestion is appreciated. I'll post up how it flies once I get the prop and spinner in the next couple weeks.
Thanks guys. I will be putting a Corsair prop on it so it has a triple blade like the real zeros, but man the blades are short compared to the T-28's. I suppose the third blade compensates for the shorter length. The Corsair prop should also offer more ground clearance with this tail dragger landing gear setup. The Corsair blade may also improve the climb rate at the expense of the cruising speed from what I've read. On a separate note. I cannot wait to fly my first AS3X plane and I would love to see this technology in these micro warbirds SOON! I get so little time to fly, and when I do the planets need to align with the weather. I'd love to be able to take out the t-28 comfortably in a 5mph breeze. |
