One of our local law enforcement officers (OPP) stopped by our flying field today and was kind enough to radar our planes for us. My buddies F27Q Stryker was clocked at 165 kph (102.5 mph) and my Parkjet topped out at 159 kph (98.7 mph). Not bad considering the cost of this little thing. Stock motor, motor mounted flush with fuselage (not the stock mount), 30amp esc, and I used a 3s 1000mah battery. We knew it was pretty fast, just wasn't sure how fast, now we know.

Over where I fly - I intend to call on guys I know in local Traffic Police to come and officially radar gun later attempts to set a record in Latvia. Allied to on board sensor - we hope that will produce good results.

As Stu found out - the hobby gun is fine IF you can get the model low enough, close enough at frightening speeds .... not an easy job at the sort of speeds we are getting.

On June 17th - there is a meeting planned in central Latvia - where I hope to go for speed .... there should be many from across the region to witness ... hopefully video as well ... if we can get Traffic Police as well ... !!

Flew mine in the country again today - about 10-15 mph winds. Crazy stuff. Even tho I had my canopy taped down, it blew off and I lost it in a field. Looks like I'll get a replacement part and look a bit more next time I am down there. Still a great flight, screaming through the (windy) skies.

3S Isn't crazy enough for ya? Woo ha! After some good flights, I flipped her hard into the ground. Funny, I had just ordered a kit for parts. Good timing. Think I will go with the old stick mount this time around.

I've killed two stock motors on 3s - it's really a 2s motor. I replaced mine with a 55mm EDF. I don't have a watt meter, but I think it pulls about 25-28A WOT. The 20A esc only survived one flight of careful throttle management (occasional bursts of high throttle), but I think it'll be fine with a 30A Plush. Not sure on the speed, but it's at least 90mph on 3s.

Reckon it will be a very short flight IF you get it to launch ! That stock motor IMHO is too light for 4S.

I just did last week. I posted up on the parkjet speed thread.

I used a 1000ma 4s nanotech 45-90C

I'm running a 5x5e prop. i know way too much for this motor.

The sound pitch was higher at full throttle, so probably was pulling more RPMs than my 3S (which by the way has worked flawlessly for 30+ flights).

I ran about 6 full throttle passes, and 3 continuous circles. the motor didnt seem to be hot. 35A ESC was fine too.

The parkjet was faster, but not crazy faster.

launching was a non-issue. i find that launching at a throttle setting just when i can feel it wanting to leave my hand is perfect. i made the mistake of forgetting this and trying full throttle on 3s, and the resultant rolls into the dirt don't make me too happy. the heavier batteries seem to exasperate this tendency.

OK .... good to know the stock motor will survive a 4S.

I would suggest though propping down to let motor have its head ...
You'll probably find it will speed up then ..

Yup, you suggested this in the speed thread.
Seems logical. I've yet to try. Weather has been rainy lately.
I'll post up when I've tried.

I was abit surprised to see that little motor survive a 4S with a fairly large prop. Who knows about longetivity though.
