Motor sound also is great

Maidened a glider but powered the video,tx with separate battery

Now plane is trimmed etc i will remove video tx battery and just power the camera and 1 watt lawmate via balance plug of a 3 cell

I hope with ground tests my camera and video tx work to 8.5 volts

Anyone knows it the racewood is a good vtx combined with the lawmate reciever?

Hi,

I have a Lawmate 1.2Ghz 1000mW TX.
(Old design)
What is the operating voltage of a significant loss of performance.
you put extra cooling? Or is it sufficient to factory?

It's enough if you have airflow on it, on mine I stick with "artic silver aluminum paste" a piece of an old computer ship radiator.

Here's my mod'd lawmate 1watter. Heatsink well attached with Devcon metal epoxy and it has dropped "bench burn" operating temp by over 15DegC!
Ditch the gold heatsink, besides being held on with double sided tape its not much good unless your rig always flies fast and it gets the airflow

Hi Pulsarxp, I found the significant loss of performance will occur if operating the old Lawmate 1W Tx at 9.5v or less.
I power my Lawmate Tx at 10.0v and still maintain 1W output power and it seems to run cooler, quite safe for bench testing.

I found this antenna on e-bay but I did not found any particular info about it:
1.2 GHz 7 dBi Omni GSM rubber Antenna SMA male connect

If in your opinion it is not worth it I could build my own antenna based on this tutorial:

Thank you for your help.
I'm going to do ground testing. Connent with a camera and then I go it by car. I repeat this test from 10 and 12 volts.

BOB (Fox) 700mw VRx Corrosion

I decided to open up my new BOB vrx to take a peak inside and found substantial corrosion on two of the components and light rust throughout. The vrx/tx seem to work ok around the house. I have not flown with them.

Has anyone experienced this? Should I trust the rx?

The unit is brand new. It's just been sitting in the box (opened) in my pc room (air conditioned) for 2 months.

Also, it has an F connector (right?). If I decide to ditch the stock antenna, am I better off with a F-to-sma adapter or build the new antenna with a F male connector on the pigtail?

I just turned down volume of the ground station

I also use lawmate video rx and it works well

Yes

10 volts power supply to video tx works best

Because there is 10 volt linear regulator in the video tx
Less heat and wasted energy

Powering from a 3 cell battery works well but needs cooling when no air flow at 12.6 volts

If you use antenna that matches the frequency output of the video tx your video tx will run much cooler and use less amps.

Do not trust that unit. It's been very wet to have corrosion like that.

I saw the reference on the first page to this mod. It says you need an o-scope. Is this still the case? If so, I may just buy a new rx.

It's right but on a certain way it can't be worse ;-) even if you don't calibrate it, I change one on mine and didn't calibrate it as is seem to be good.
