Thanks!
That was (their support) conclusion too, but I haven't heard from them in a couple of days ...
Not too eager to ship the stuff back (cost, time) ... and I might get another broken set again?
Is there another solution I could try?

Well, I don't care much for the Sunsky digital display Rxs (they don't work
near UHF RC Tx's at all), so I use a Racewood (4ch tan box) Rx
that is compatible with 4 of the channels on the Sunsky Tx and does
work with UHF RC Tx without issue.
You could pick up one of those, and if that works, you know the Sunsky
Rx is bad. If it doesn't work, you know the Sunsky Tx is bad.

So today I ran my fox-800 for about 1.5 hrs for a sort of confidence run and to see how long my ground station battery and video goggles would last. I have a 20mm fan mounted to my Tx for cooling. I checked the video frequently during the run and did not see any problems. When I finished and disconnected power from Tx and Rx, the Rx was just slightly warm (like normal) and the Tx was just barely above room temp.

I turn them both on again later and I get nothing. I fiddled with all the connections and they were all as they were supposed to be. I didn't touch the thing since the last test.

If I put it on channel 4 or 5 then I could just barely make out an incredibly distorted image. But when I put it on any other channel I get absolutely nothing. The batteries to Tx and Rx were good.

What's going on here, has anyone had this problem before?

For tests like this I put a watts up between the battery and video rx

To find the amp draw, then just use battery discharger to test battery to see how long it lasts

Fully charged 2 cell will, still, work for video rx to find lowest volts the videomtx will stop working,

Don't forget to also do,range tests when low voltage tests are done

Set up ground station so it works for a long long time way more than you expect

Also set up your rc rx so it lasts for a long long time

Remember the fox video rx and rx are poor in quality so also expect things to not always work well as quality is inconsistent

Consider yourself lucky your fpv stuff failed on the bench as in the air would of cost you more than just a video tx

Good ground range tests like you do is important as you found out

Thanks Ian!
My radio is a stock Turnigy 9x (2.4Ghz). I'll do that when I'll upgrade to ?Rangelink?

What other video has good penetration & works w/2.4 RC?
(preferably w/ stock antennas & w/out filters).

Will see what Sunsky support does ...
In the meantime I'll go back to my 5.8ghz video ...

This is great example to have video recorder that has screen

If in case goggles stop working you just look at pvr

Lots of this fpv stuff is poorly made and as you can find out many people have reported problems

Keep it simple and lessen potential problems

You goggles might just have connections that have come loose
And can be fixed easy with simple mod with hot glue

The older rv
goggles had big defect due to this
Just folding the goggles causes this issue

Dominators have poor coax that shorts out

Headplay are just crap

Do some wiggle tests

Can be fixed easy

I made a test video, with 2 VTx emitting at the same time, on for simulating parasites (800 mW at 980 Mhz with a dipole) and one for simulating a long range plane flying away (200 mW at 1010 Mhz with a dummy load on it).

I'm very happy with it, just look at the result, first test a good Vrx (lawmate) with no cavity, second test RMRC with the cavity filter.

The test

Conclusion, some more professionnal than me could make filter like that for specific frequency, that would be very usefull for us. May be IBcrazy ?

So you got best video penetration with a 1.2 Sunsky Tx & compatible Racewood Rx?
Which antennas?

Thanks, but I tested it with goggles and two lcds and I still get nothing. I've got some new range video gear on its way.

Tim most likey test each video rx so they should all be good

I however tested 7 of them and found a few to be absolutely useless

1 or two of them however worked great out of the 7

But lawmate video rx at that time was way better withnuhf and video in general

Reports now are lawmate rx's are not good

The new ones they sell

I would recomend the immersion video rx's even though I never used them before

Good video is just way more than a video rx but videomrxmismimportant
