6110 is perfectly fine for the Extra. I had one in mine for quite a while, and now it is in an EDF that covers a lot of ground... no problems what-so-ever.

Yeah man, you should be cool. Of course with TXs and RXs, your mileage may vary... but I know a lot of guys flying 6110s in all their planes up to 60 inchers.

I really only use a full range receiver on my planes that are worth a bit or took a lot of time to build... and I've never had a problem so far.

with FUTABA you will never have range problems. I am using in my extra a small 6ch parkflyer futaba FASST and have over a mile in range.

Finally got to maiden my Extra yesterday. It flew great. I put the battery all the way forward and used the velcro to hold the wires and it was very nose heavy. It was tough not smacking it into the ground after I took off. I think on my next flight I will put the velcro over the end of the battery and not the wires and try that out. Other than that it was a very successful maiden. The plane flew really well after I trimmed it. I did not try anything fancy just wanted to get use to her and how she flew and she flew great! The landing was not hard at all. I landed her fast but not too fast and only needed one attempt to successfully put her down. Probably one of the best maiden flights/landings I have ever had. I cannot wait to get off work and fly her some more!

its just perfect does not stall at any speed you can do high extreme 3d or just slow trainer 3d. i have in my hangar and i love it.

very durable and not easy break like grate planes flatout.
Dax I cracked. After your suggestion I just kept thinking about it. I ordered one of the Hawks from Nitroplanes with everything ready to go. I also got two 8X4 props and a couple of 2s 800mah batteries. I really want to learn how to fly 3D I just need to stop buying planes. Anyways I hope this little guy can help me not only learn 3D but also refine my other aerobatics as well. Thanks again for the suggestion.

Good to know. I am excited to try it out. Oh and my second flight of the Extra 300 went much better than the first. I was flying in 10-15 mph winds so that was a little bit of a pain but not too bad. I accidentally stalled closer to the ground while trying to land but I was able to power out of it pretty well. It still scared me though. I am glad to hear that the 3D Hawk can handle the wind. I got 800mah batteries to try to help combat some of the wind too. I got a question though, do you know if you can spray paint the EPO foam? I really want to come up with a different paint scheme than the included decals.

there is a brand of paint for foam. you can find it in some art n craft shops.. i buy once for my gws corsair and still painted after 4 years. normal spray will eat the foam.. since i own a sign shop i am now making my own graphics for my aircraft.

Krylon H2O works well you can find it in advance auto. michael floral, also works. and some acrilic brushed paint, or tyry with some airbrush.

dont use heavy paint. this epo hawk 3d is much better if you keep it under 210g flying weight. you are using a 800mah so you have a little extra weight. i wass runing mine in zippy 500mah 37g.

I have painted EPP and other foams before and had great success with the Krylon H20 paint. I am just wondering about the EPO foam. I read that Krylon Fusion bonds well to it. I was not planning on using a whole lot of paint probably just one color on one side of the wings and elevator. I just do not like the look of the included stickers and will do my best to keep it light. I know the 800mah are a little heavy but I think it will help me combat the wind here in AZ. If not I will invest in some 500 mah packs. Thanks again for all your help.

I've used Krylon Fusion on several different types of foam. From my experience it works fine, just go really, really light coats, or it will eat some foam.

I've also used some neon spray paints from Ace Hardware. Their store brand doesn't contain acetone, which is the major killer in other spray paints.
