Thnx, You will definitely not get support anywhere else like I give it.
If you buy the zeph you wont have to buy 4 cheap other wings trying to figure out that you could have already paid for a zeph

So with the lam, I wont need as much Riteweave. I had a question about that: I have that big sheet of the yellow weave material, but I also have a roll of fiberglass drywall tape. Does it matter which I use? The drywall tape looks to be a heck of a lot easier to work with than the big, awkward sheet of the yellow stuff, since it is in thin strips and has an adhesive backing on it as well that holds it together and keeps it from fraying.

I also need to find a folding prop. Any good sources for these? I'm planning to use a Turnigy C3548 1100kV motor with a 12X6 prop.

sorry aero, missed that one. it's not going to be 100% smooth (not as smooth as monokote) but it adds a ton of strength and there is no additional drag compared to monokote.

you can use any kind of glass reinforcements. as long as the "torsional strength" (I hope that's a legitimate word ... ) is good, it'll add stability. glue it down with 3M90, you'll be amazed at the strength.

the motor you're trying to add is a bit on the heavy side. keep in mind to put the motor mount further forward to help you with CG. folding props can be bought at most local hobby stores or glider specialist shops (e.g. soaringUSA should have them?)

I also tried removing some of the weave to do a "conversion" like trappy mentioned but it just tears the foam. Is there something you can do to loosen the 90? At this point I'm inclined to believe CK when he says in the video "it'll never come off" :P

Mine is a tank too!

I used the original build technique with lots of Riteweave. Even at almost 2.1 kg, it still flies great, but is a handful to launch.

With 800 watts running through a 500 sized heli motor, it's got no shortage of power!

I would like a lighter one and may build another Zeph almost naked this winter. I figure a bit of Riteweave over the leading edge. A strip across the top and bottom spars and a bit around the motor mount and it should be good. What do you think CK?

As for launching, I saw a thread somewhere here on RCG a while back where someone made a simple dolly to launch a wing so it would ROG. may give that a try. Mine is such a pain to launch that I haven't flown it much this summer.

I'm enjoying this thread guys! Nice builds.

Bill thats what we are doing now, alittle weave where needed then laminate with 3 mill ,then a patch of 10 mil lam under the nose and bottom for a durable skid.
We have seen up to 250 grams or more saved in a build by doing this.

The builds are always evolving thats whats nice .

I am trying to go over new method here. http://www.youtube.com/user/TheRitewing1#p/u

qik snipets go along way.

Hey Trappy, I think the Ritewing people should start paying you some royalties! Your videos really put this wing on the map. I keep seeing new Zephyr build threads popping up. LOL

? that wasn't me! I have not had problem with the police in the last few months but if you're referring to the RiSCyD video, it's good to see people follow my advice (almost down to the letter) and suddendly not having any problems anymore, flying like I do (or even better) down the mountains. it has been pretty frustrating the past few months handing out advice and everyone seems to think they know better then keep blaming my nice scenery or insane flying skills for the videos I make. then again maybe I shouldn't complain, it makes the videos of the ones that do follow my advice so much better.
