I think id be happy with 10, and the 14 cell 200 amp controller should do that, but its only a little past 10KW.

If your making a 20KW motor what do you plan to use to spin it ?

200 amps needs 100 volts to get the 20KW
There will be controllers!

There are a couple of those controllers available on the market now (Schultze and Jeti) so no need to wait for vaporware controllers to run the fan unit. Large 2P or 3P batteries needs to be used (10000-15000mAh), but that's just what the large 3D/acrobatic plane guys are doing and have been doing for some years. If it works for them it should do so in a EDF as well.
In the real world, it doesn't work that way! You must use the Kv that matches the load at the peak effiiency.

Don't tell me that a Kv of 650 is the only one that a motor can have to spin the Dynamax at max efficiency. I'm sure you could design a motor with a Kv of 750 to do the job just as good if that was one of the basic design parameters for the motor. It may end up with a different length or diameter but what would be the problem in doing this?

Oh but that's not so AB. Every fan has a peak efficiency and runs best at a given rpm. Now consider esc's and batteries. I think as battery technology gets better we may find that 680 might be a peak kv for the dynamax and still be a usable fan for the average guy. Now if you are buildind a dedicated racer (like I am), then a higher kv is not only desirable but a must. But this is a plane that will fly for 3 minutes tops. Not what most are in the market for.

Peak efficiency for the Dynamax and a 63mm motor is actually about 645kv. Our new big motor is 676Kv. It is slightly larger than the original 63mm motor so it can handle more load with the same power. Really do have to tune the motor for the load.

We have sold 1/2 of our fan systems to Europe/UK, so there are definitely people using them there!

Just so I know, the smaller (6Kw) would fit my Byron F-16, correct? Thanks, Mike
