You can do a search on the Guiness website to see it officially, but since I wrote it I can tell you the key points are:

Max of 400' AGL. You break out at any time during your run you are DQ'd. On-board GPS recording required, this way the altitude can be verified. Speed can be either via the on-board GPS or radar gun. In practice, the GPS is MUCH easier and safer. Passes must be parallel (within reason). Two passes required, one each direction. The average of the highest speed in each direction is used to calculate the speed for the record.

You do not have to land where you took off from.

Must have media present and film the entire run.

Curious what the pitch on the dynamax fan is? Another thread going on about thrust/efflux/fan speed all that got me curious.

The pitch is not constant.

Ah the blades flatten a bit as the rpm increases right? There is some range and tolerance though I imagine? Like approx pitch at 10k rpm vs 20k vs 30k?

No, the blades don't flatten or stretch at all. They are 30% carbon fiber in a polymer resin.

The pitch changes through out the length of the blade, much like several other EDF rotor designs. You need a high degree of pitch at the center and relax the pitch as you get towards the tips. This keeps the load of the fan more constant instead of having a void in inlet stream.

Ah ok. I actually had a fan that did have blades that flattened a bit. It was crappy though.

So anyway that makes sense. I guess that's why people ask for efflux numbers instead.

Have anyone put the Electric retracts in their F-18? Would like to put them in my F-18 that I'm in the process of building.

Have a Xtreme Pro fan going in a 29 pound F18. I am looking for a 16 or 17S ESC. Does anyone have experience with the the Alien controllers. Have used the Jeti 200 and they are great controllers but need a little more. Not scared to blow up an ESC but having the rotor escape at 34K and making its way through the plane does not sound good.

Yeah, you definitely don't want to fod the fan at full throttle.

Jim,

I think I read somewhere that you had used or maybe just tested the Spin200 on 16S, may be wrong. I would like to use 8000mah 30 or 35C, 16S batteries . Since I expect more voltage sag than I would get with a 65C battery it seems the Spin200 would be operating with in the correct voltage range at just about anything over part throttle. Is this just crazy thinking? I would much rather use a Jeti product than an untested ESC.

Thanks for any advice you can give

What was wrong with using the Spin 300? Would seem to cover the bases you desired.

The Jeti Spin 200 and 300 is rated for 14s LiPo / 59V max. You will blow it with 16s.

I'm sorry, I was thinking in terms of a pair of XPS Pro 2 with a pair of Spin 300's each with 14S. This was an F-18 @ 29# wasn't it.... This is basically what was planned for the 47's.

Jim, is there an XPS Pro 2 inventory?

The Spin 200 and 300 have 15S selectable throught the programmer. I put 50 plus flights on a 200 at 15S. Fairly sure I read that Jim used the Jeti at 16S but don't know how long or how well it worked. Would love to find a 16S controller but not having any luck finding one except ones that really don't have any feedback.

I had emailed XPS and was told they are out of the Pro2.

No, the SPIN will definitely not handle 16S. We sold a controller (once) that was 18S capable, but even in China they don't want the liability of 50+ VDC because it can kill you if you grab it. So, we were not able to get any more of the controllers made for us.
