AP from the west side of the Gunnison valley

It has been windy but I wanted to get out and take some shots from somewhere I had not flown before. A wildlife area on the west end of the valley seemed like a good place to do some flying. You can see over to the next valley where Blue Mesa reservior is visible.

Gunnison Valley

Outstanding photos Gunny. I really like the shot of the valley with the river. Postcard quality.

Thanks John,
Too bad we had haze today, I suspect it is coming up from the Arizona fires. The pic would have been better with some crisp clean air.

Picture perfect as usual ! You should post some bad pictures sometime so the rest of us don't get a complex.

too funny Ed-
With surroundings like this, it is hard to go wrong . Here is the worst shot from about 40 pics this morning, it is a whole lot of nothing.

More Great Shots

GF-

You have inspired me. My SS arrived last week. It has a brushless motor and an AIPtek 1.3 M camera waiting for it.

On your 'Whole lot of nothing' shot. What are the round features in the photo?? And the dark 'groove' cutting across the photo at 45 degrees looks a lot like the signature that the Anasazi roads have down here in NM. Does the flat top mesa have a site on it?? In NW New Mexico, almost every small flat mesa with steep sides has a late Mesa Verdean site, a Navajo Refugee site, or sometimes both!

Keep posting 'em
Rich

Not sure of what the features are in the pics, would have to go walk around out there. It is funny you should ask, the flat topped mesa in the background of the "Here is the Gunnison river and the Gunnison valley facing east" shot has a Folsom site on the top that we have been excavating for the last 3 years.
You will enjoy the SS, can't wait to see some pics from your new rig.

Cool shots! Looks like Mars!

I noticed last week that Blue Mesa Res. is a little fuller than a few months back...

How'd the SS do in the wind over there? It's been blowing around here like nuts lately.

Fishing is one of my passions, don't be afraid to admit you love to fish. An additional benifit to living here is lots of really good trout fishing. The river gets slow and braided in that section, excellent fly fishing.

We definitely have our fair share of sage brush. It has been nasty windy lately. I planed to get out early, but ended up sleeping in and did not have my SS up untill 10:30, winds were averaging around 7 mph gusting to 18. Flyable with the mini AC, but could have been better. Blue Mesa is looking much better.
