I have successful used the retracts from PWRC in my FMS 55" P40 .
The problem is that I wanted a working spring strut .
I just started a post in eletric warbirds on an experiement of making very cheap scissors for the cheap struts available for the retracts .
This will keep the struts from turning under load (that is the biggest issues with them )

I have both the EPF Hobby DSR46's and the Lado's.

Right now Sonic Electric is not getting any new stock concerning parts. EPF is selling them direct now but the prices are high..... I assume to protect their vendors. Sonic Electric stated EPF needs to "mature" a little more before they send them any more money for orders...

The Lado's are bulletproof and the service from Magnum RC almost makes Horizon Hobby look like a bunch of amateurs!! I have the Lado's in a 13+ lb plane even though they are supposedly for .60-size planes.

Also, don't forget Bobs Workshop.....

I realize these are not "electric/Servoless" retracts
but it is a good source for retracts nevertheless

EDIT: HK also has quite an extensive sellection of very nice servoless retracts you just have to look pretty good to find what you want. I will post a few links to narrow the search

this could also be adapted as a rotating retract

The Lados are nothing like the E-flight units. Lado has no affiliation with Horizon. Lados are made in France now and distributed/serviced in the US only by Magnum RC.

Here is a picture of my Lados compared to the E-flite units... These are the older ones made in the US. The new ones are anodized black...

I am looking forward to trying out the E-flite units though... the Lados are expensive but they are extremely strong... all CNC Machined parts, no stamped metal, no plastic. The E-flite units look to be a good value.

Small point but are these not all DSRs or Digital Servoless Retracts but the first to get theirs out were EPF coining the phrase DSR. When we say "DSR" are we actually talking about EPF DSRs?

To do an apples with apples compare since EPF are in this mix the AUW should be posted since EPF weigh much more with a separate controller, separate power supply. Some of the plastic retract weigh a lot less than the metal retracts making them more ideal for certain applications.

EPF DSRs Sonic has all the specs posted for their 30 and 46 class. The 30s the strut mount is brittle and has shared off of some fliers.

The RCLander AUW rating of 7.5 lbs is a little much. They were originally posted at 2.5 Kg or 5.5lbs. I've already gone thru a set of trunnions on a 6 lb plane that never left the grass runway. This was due to the car axle part being used to mount the strut. They used the soft metal car axles. The harder axles got them working a little better.

You can add 25-46 size e-flite retracts to the list but not till the end of October.

http://www.e-fliterc.com/Products/De...ProdID=EFLG310

That leaves 46 - 60 size for the complete set.

Seems like most are just for planes up to 6.5 lbs or so and the only players in the market catering for bigger planes are the Lados and Eflite? (Lados too expensive for me and Eflite out of stock? )
