Ebay Alert!!

Here is an old cabin cruiser on e-bay.

Does anyone convert these old pond boats to RC?

Converting that should not be a problem at all since it is already set up to run.
At $150 it is pretty close to what I would be willing to pay for it.

Looks like one of the old K&O boats. They can go over $ 1000.00

Collectors pay BIG money for these, it will be interesting to see what it goes for. I want one of the Marlins, so I can RC it, but the last one I saw on Ebay was $500. Of course it was perfect shape and had its original box(mint) and mini outboard motor(mint)

I just noticed looking at the pictures, I got one of those old horseshoe motors with a Sterling CC Ebay restoration project boat.

I don't know, maybe because they were made by hand in Japan 40-60 years ago.

Discussion Ebay Alert!!

The Japanese started making them in the early 1950's during "The Occupied Japan" era(1945-1952).

It sold for $385.99. As a collectible at that price I don't think too many people would be willing to dig into it for an R/C conversion!

However I did recently find the boat shown in the attached photos at a thrift store. 47" long (very nicely) planked hull, display model of a "J" boat. Way to new to be "Collectible" (actually one of those, supposed to look like an antique, display models they sell to tourists at the coast). As it only cost $17.50 it would be worth it to take a look under the deck to see if it could be rigged for R/C (My wife thinks this would be a very good idea as it will keep it out of the house!). If it looks like a worthwhile project I'll put pictures in the Sail Boat forum as a build log.

Here's a picture of a Marlin, my favorite one of these boats. This ones a little rough. Just add a servo to steer the little outboard, Rx,and battery.
