Hi Guys,

I can't put it off any longer. I have to glue the fin together. See photo. I sure hope I haven't forgot to do something important. It's a done deal. See photo. Stay tuned.

Wow Bob,

You have been a busy guy, quick work on the horizontal tail pieces. I am going to have more building time in a few weeks and hopefully I will make similar progress. Are you going to attempt to blend the tail section to the carbon fuselage or are you going to leave it as is? I am going to make a guess that you are saving a pile of weight in the tail by going with the carbon fuselage. It should make balancing easier.

Hi Wayne,

I'm gling to blend it in as best as I can. Scottie sent me all the drawings to do it. I never thought about the weight thing. I just can't build good fuses. Stay tuned. It's going to get to be a lot of fun from here on out. Uncharted territory !!!!

Hi Guys,

It looks like I'm going to be getting a LOT more done on the plane. Here is the current radar image. The next 5 days look the same on the forcast. No garden clean up anytime soon. Stay tuned.

Hi Guys,

I made some 1/2 round fillers for inside the boom. See Photo. These will help stabilize the tail inside the boom. The L/H side is relieved to accomidate the rudder push rod. See photo. Now I have to make the fairing blocks for the aft end of the boom. Stay tuned.

Hi Al,

I think is has something to do with the drawing. See photo. Maybe it's a British thing ????? Or maybe a 1980's thing. Are you sure yours isn't backwards ?? Smile If it flies OK I guess it doesn't matter.

The pivot point for the stab should be forwards, located at or very very slightly ahead of the 25% chord location of the stab's Mean Aerodynamic Chord.

If it's at the back end of the airfoil, the stab will try to snatch hard-over with every opportunity. The location of the pin and slot that controls the stab's incidence is not terribly critical, as long as it's far enough from the pivot point to have adequate leverage, and minimize slop.

If the pivot point is too far forward (such as near the leading edge of the stab), the loads on the servo will be much greater, and there is also a possibility of flutter.

Looking fine Bob,some 30 min epoxy should hold the works to the boom in fine form.J.B.W is a bit poor in resin count for sticking c/f to balsa.
