Build Log
Cox Corsair with AR6400L 3d receiver and dual Aileron L servos with Video

I decided to finally build this plane. It will be with a AR6400L receiver and will be as light weight as possible. I already did a P-47 with a AR6400 and that worked well and now I will be trying the AR6400L. The AR6400L is a long throw version of the AR6400 and the one I'm using comes from a UM 4-Site. The UM 4-site is still in 1 piece but I will soon be removing its radio gear for this plane.

Edit..I will install a AR6400L with dual AS2000L aileron servos and it will the first Cox plane with this setup but first I'm gonna try a few other things I have been wanting to try to see if there is an equivalent setup in weight and price to the AR6400L. The AR6400L is back-ordered at this time so you can't buy it just now so the only way to get one is from a 4-Site.

edit... The AR6400L finally gets installed here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...6&postcount=51

I think so. I also have the 5 gram HK BL motor and I'm thinking about it. I know what your thinking, 5g motor is not enough but if the plane is light enough it will work. I'm running a 5 g motor in my Cox MW P-40 and it works good even though that particular plane is a bit portly.

I've used both in a Guillows sub 3oz Champ and settled on the 5gr. Just thinking of what my Dad used to say back in our glow days..." If you need to add nose weight, make it in cubic inches."

Cool

I got the mains installed. You will notice that they are well forward of the CG point which will help prevent nose overs. This gear worked good on the Venom plane despite being foam type wheels, I'm hoping they work as well on this corsair.

Yep, so many choices. but for me its easy, warbirds rule!

I decided to go with the smaller outrunner. Its 5 grams but with the motor mount and prop its more like 10 g.

The 10g outrunner could be swapped in if needed.

Now I need to locate a very small 2s BL ESC.

Looking good Modfly. What is the diameter of the wheels on the landing gear? It looks to be around 18 - 20 mm, looks pretty scale. Also what prop is that you are using for test fitting? I guess it just presses into the spinner then presses on the motor shaft? Nice setup.

That little 5g motor fits the hole in the nose perfectly. Would you have to enlarge the opening for the 10g?

I use the GWS props\spinners for most of my planes.

Yes, The 10g motor is larger and heavier of course. Right at the last minute I made a radial spinner mod. Cool eh?
