mine did not come with a Y harness for the esc's, what control wires are you talking about? the servos all had leads long enough to reach the receiver on my kit.

Hi Kevin,

I am talking about the control rods that go from servo to control horn.

I have another question.
They have left the red wire attached to both of the throttle ESC
connections. Shouldn't one of these red wires be disconnected?

mine was a very late kit I am assuming, as mine came with all the linkages installed. I did not remove one of the red wires from the bec either, did not even think about it when I was doing all of the setup.

Thanks Kevin,
I assume that the ESCs worked all right then even with both of
the red wires on.

Mine's a PNP. There's no mention of cutting any wires. I left it the way it came and have been flying it like that since the beginning. No problems.

This is my first edf plane and have two basic questions.

1. How can you tell if the fan is out of balance?
2. If so, how do you balance it ?

Sorry for such basic questions...but thanks for your advice!

I found with mine that right out of the box, the fans were not clearing the shroud very well, so I had to go in with a Dremel and grind off just enough in those places where they touched. If one or both fans are not balanced, you can sometimes feel it as a vibration when you spin it up or you can hear odd harmonics. If you really want to be sure, then you have to take the fans out and check them on a prop balancer. But then, you won't know if the motors are balanced. To balance the whole assembly becomes a fairly complicated trial and error exercise. These are not terribly high rpm fans, so if they run pretty good at max throttle, just leave them. Besides making clearance for the fans, I did nothing else to them.

Thanks Xviper for your reply!

Yes I did read here about the fan touching but it seemed to be normal and it should work itself out, but I will check to be sure.

I had read about balancing the whole assembly and it seemed very tedious to say the least. I always check all my servos and motors (wattmeter) before doing any assembly of my aircraft.

Thanks again for your assistance.

I have already got all the equipment. I just need the airframe ..... which is sold out. Don't really like the green camo but it seems to be the only color avail in kit form.

I do like the green camo but had to put "invasion stripes" on the bottom to see it well. I just used white colored tape and thought I would paint the stripes on if I liked it that way. I think it's been two years, that tape is working so to heck with painting it
