Wouldnt the 10CAP be a better choice Kev? for 700 bucks with a 14 chan Rx it seems about the best value around, very tempted to have one myself.

I have been a JR/Spektrum man forever. Got myself a 8FG after several issues with the JR/Spektrum.

I am happy as pig in mud! The 8FG has bearing on the gimbals (only one per axis) so the sticks are quite smooth, the 10c only has bushings. It has very low latency and high resolution (the hitec has high latency) so you get a quick connected and locked in feeling. The 8FG programming is better and easier than the 10 and the switches are better located.

I have felt and played around with the 10C an IMO it's no where near as good as the 8FG unless you need the 10 channels.

Go into Hallam hobbies and have a hold and look for yourself. Fredo has most of the current crop of radios on display.

Dont know much about the Futaba, but I have had a JR 9XII for 5 years and a Aurora 9 for 6 months. The A9 is much easier to program than the JR and I really like the telemetry on the A9. The A9 has a removable module like the JR and I think it wont be long until companies like FRSKY make modules for it so you can use their cheap RX's, but for now even the Hitec RX's are cheaper than the JR/Spectrum or Futabas. I have had no issues with range or interference with the A9, even with the 7-channel RX with 1 antenna.

Cheers

Dean

Doesnt the A9 use a standard Futaba/Hitec size module already?

10c would give me better options, but I hate the module on the back, always paranoid about breaking pins!

I have to say I'm also wrapped with my A9.. It's been a dream to program.. I love that I can update it like I could with the 12FG I had..
I hope that one day hitec bring out an A12.. then I would be set..

The A9 runs at a different voltage (~7.2v) compared to say the Optic 6 (~9.6v). The lower voltage of the A9 brings it into line with 2S LiPo operation.

Difference between old Hitec modules and A9 module here

A few of the guys at the club have them and they love them(no issues so far) just a bit worried about the new (to Hitec) technology.

FrSKY is rated 6-13v operating range for the module, I would want to ask the factory to confirm that it will be happy at 8.4v charged voltage of a 2s lipo.

The latest Futaba 10CAG (or CHG) are fully integrated 2.4. No more modules.

I had an 8FG and liked the programming and functionality but hated the small size and plastic feel, plus that touchpad gave me the willys.

I cross-graded to the 10CAG and i'm happy with it.

I picked up an Aurora at the shop and it feels nice in the hands. A decent hefty weight and the touch screen programming was pretty good, although i have to wonder how long it would last with oily hands. I also didn't like that fact that it's module based and the module still uses a cable from module to antenna. That's so 2007.

A few issues with the Aurora have surfaced. The biggest one being that there is a significant dead spot at the extreme travel limit of some sticks. The radio i handled at the shop had this problem.
The other is the latency issue which is bothersome to a few people from a technical standpoint but probably not noticeable by the average pilot.
