I'm kinda used to preparing dinner the "poor man's" way= open cupboard/fridge, and whatever is there is ALL you have to work with. I'm no cook by any stretch, yet I like the challenge of trying something totally random without having to go to the store. Only once did I make something disgusting (okay, thrice actually, but two involved eggplant, a hideous creation if ever there was one).

Lesson learned tonight... less beef stock in onion-mushrooms/not have the the steak in it at all. There wasn't enough separation of flavor, as all ingredients had the same flavor added. Only onion/mushroom/dash of salt/tiny bit of stock all by themselves would have been perfect, Same with ribeye and a dash of garlic salt only would have been perfect. Not to say it wasn't super yummy...I just like to taste each ingredient for what it has to offer.
However, the home-smoked (cherry-wood) medium cheddar over broccoli was to die for!

City, I oughta get one of those.

Dinner for me was battered and fried invertebrates, and another giant steamed one on the side. Water bugs, yummy! Litopenaeus vannamei and Metacarcinus magister, to be exact.

Looks very Yummy Lil.

BTW, they must have been collecting 'grease' for long after WWII cause I remember my Mom filling 3lb coffee cans with it when i was a child. Who now can save 3lbs of Bacon Grease in less than 3 months??

Omigod.... I'm so happy that my 9-day work week is over in 2.5 hours! I am sooooo ready for bed. It's just been one of those nights that I hope to forget.

Let's see... one ambulance, two fire trucks, one drug sniffing dog, 3 police cars and one paddy-wagon. One overdose, and two other people arrested. Not to mention, one house full of crazy addicts all in a tizzy.

I need to start looking for a new job.

Then maybe you'd be better off eating this instead. It's a good way to add sparkles to your diet. It even says so right on the can!

I gotta try that. Just once. (Maybe on a game hen, though, so if it backfires, I don't have a 20lb mess.)

What is it with cats? The new little one, Shasta (who has been to TD contests since she was a newbie), always MUST curl up in my jeans when I'm...... otherwise occupied...... on the throne. Whyyyyyyyy? It must be a cat thing.

Properly cooked the remaining ribeyes over Stubbs briquettes and Red Oak wood chunks. (Inserted Homer Simpson extended-drool here).(OH!! on sale $5.99/lb vs. normal $9.99/lb!)

The taters-in-foil were nearly forgotten as I scarfed wonderful, succulent 145 beef (soooo hard to pull at the planned 138 when one is consuming adult beverages...)

Edited: silly picture perspective....that's a 10" plate there.
