Oooohh...... near disaster.
After the solenoid jammed during my tappity launch of the near stock Gentle Lady, I can now proudly say she survived a full-pedal winch launch. Halfway up the winch suddenly went full power, and no amount of tapping, kicking, begging woul stop it. I put the plane into a steep dive and pulled up, and off the hook. Whew! I even caught a couple puffs, but I still can't stay in 'em long. Tim tells me he saw the wings start to flutter during launch; I didn't see it, I was focusing on getting off the runaway winch. Once I was off, they had to unplug it to get it to stop. After that, the winchproof guys kept going, but I packed up.

That four leaf clover I taped to the hatch really did it's job today. Phew!

Guess what's coming to a LHS near me? One 100' hi-start, yay! I bought it today, plus a LiPo for my SE-5 and Radian. (I gotta retire those old batteries. Yuck. I'll have the LHS check each, and see what can be kept.)

Woo hoo! :happydance:

Wow... I bet that full-winch launch of the Gentle Lady really got your heart pumping!

That was quick thinking to get her nose down right away to prevent the wings from folding in half. Been there... done that.

I think I've done used up that clover, fer sure. It was--interesting. I actually got high enough to catch a few bumps, but I was so worked up I couldn't focus enough to fly. All of my future builds I will try to make them full pedal launchable. Whew, boy! One regret: the battery on my little #16 only lasts a half hour, and takes two hours to charge. I did not capture video on the nutty launch. I'm gonna order more batteries!

Ever notice just how much Wall-E resembles Jonny 5? Even the mannerisms and some vocabulary sounds are similar.

Don't disassemble Jonny 5!

I, uh, just dated myself, didn't I? Yes, I grew up watching the heck out of that tape. That one, a couple Disneys and a few others got watched and watched and watched, until the tape started to stretch. Ahhh, memories.

"Be kind. Rewind." - makes no sense to kids these days.

We never did get a laser disc player, though they were still around. The dentist had a small theater with a laser disc player.

Please be kind, rewind. Ahhh, yes. Dad bought a rewinder that went a little slower, and had a gentler stop after the VCR ate a couple tapes, then finally it's rewinding gear broke. Yup, us kids watched that thing to death.
