Wow, I have over 4000 designs in PDF format. It would be a very massive undertaking to convert all these to bmp. Not only that but the file size to store bmp would increase. While I have a huge network drive along with Windows Home Server I feel the size needed would not be of beneficial to the goals of this tread on this forum. Tif is a far better format in that it can contain vector data just like a PDF however again the size of the file is really one of the determining factors. I say please live the format in PDF as there are now so many of use using that format.

It would be a serious mistake to move away from PDF and adopt a bitmap format such as TIF or BMP as the lingua franca of vintage plan publication and exchange. We're publishing in PDF format for good reasons. It isn't broke, no need to "fix" it.

Excellent work! If any one can provide detailed high resolution plans of PBY Catalina and Dornier Do X. The plan on Page 238 of PBY Catalina is not clear and does not have any readable instructions

PDF is fine... but what is the best format to take to some where like staples to get a full plan printed..I know nothing about this..
I love all these plans..they give me lots of ideas..

For me it is easier to work in TIFF format but PDF is the BEST way to save and share. I don't like/haven't learned that much about Photoshop but have been using Paintshop Pro 7 for 15 years.
I use Paintshop Pro 7 for the tiff work, then to PhotoShop 7 which I picked up on fleabay for $27 to save as PDF.
I have recently picked up Paintshop Pro X3 for $15 bucks on fleabay which will open a pdf file. Files can be saved as PSD which can be opened and then saved as PDF in Photoshop 7.
So I say let's keep the PDF format and use what we know/have/can get cheap to fiddle with the files to our hearts content.

PDF.

I use a drafting services for my printing, they are better equiped/more knowledgable with large printing.

E-Arc has offices all over the place, you can send them the files via email and they will print them and send them to you via mail. http://www.e-arc.com/

I use PDF whenever I have large format prints made. Never had a sizing problem.

Can anyone help me find a bueprint image in this collection? I want to do a mini tutorial on how to invert the colours on a plan that's been printed with light ink on a dark page. And for the life of me I cant find an example to work on, now.

Wow Steve That's like finding a needle in a haystack. There where so many presented I still haven't got them organized as they come in faster than I have time to save. The blue backgrounds were somewhere in the 300 or 400 range of posts if memory serves me.
