How are you fellows mounting your cameras? I just tried my keychain camera on my 120 tonight. I just used a bit of velcro on the bottom of the canopy. It held OK, but I got some vibration. Your mounts seemed to be much smoother.
Thanks
Ron
I tried a different mounting position for my 'clunky' cam. I used the velcro strips that came with the extra eflight batteries I picked up and mounted the long end of my vertical oriented camera to the backside of the heli (see pics). This new position required very little trim adjustment. Still, this camera is all wrong for this copter IMO. It's too big, heavy and the video is upside down and needs to be flipped 180 deg. with editing software (windows Moviemaker will even do this). Anyhow, I started all this in good fun and don't plan on really developing this project or my video career much further

Why are you waiting for a revised version? Good Lord this isn't a BMW it's a toy helicopter. Just buy the thing and fly it, crash it, abuse it, whatever - just have fun with it and don't treat it like the Mona Lisa.

Just giving 'Sylvester' it's first few runs tonight.

Must say, I'm mighty impressed. This SR120 is a ripper Bird

One thing I have noticed though is that the LiPo gets quite warm after a flight.

Is this normal?

BJ, I find that the battery is always fairly hot after a flight. I haven't put a meter on it but I suspect that the 12C cell is humping out amps pretty close to the limit to get the performance it needs out of 3.7 volts.

Kewl - thanks for that.

Just wanted to be sure that all is as it should be.

I'm used to flying my mSR on Hyperion 160's, and they don't even get warm after a maxed-out flight...

What is a maxed-out flight on a mSR? Zooming around the room at all of 6mph?

Same with my Intellect 130s (which seem to be rebranded Hyperions or come from the same factory, since they perform the same), after 6 1/2 minutes you can hardly feel they have been used, unlike the stock batteries, which get pretty hot, and don't live that many cycles as a result. Heat is just as bad for lipos as discharging them too low.

And as for speed, even my stock Solo Pro is faster than 6 mph. I can easily keep up with a bicycle riding at good speed.

Putting a handle on the term "maxed out" is difficult. The battery, motor, and ESC only know how much current is being asked for and how much is being used. The 120 is 4 times heavier than the MSR and the battery has roughly 4 times as much capacity but that doesn't necessarily mean that it only uses 4 times as much energy to fly. I need to solder up some connectors ( my amp meter only has Deans plugs ) and try to get a handle on just how many amps the 120 is using at high throttle and bursts. The 120 is probably spending a lot of time bumping up against the limits of its 3.7 V 12C battery.

What has actual "speed" got to do with it?

The crux is in the motor/s doing their maximum revs = maximum draw on the battery.

I bet you wouldn't say that if you had your face planted over the carby of "only a 1200cc DOHC pissant motor" when it let go at 7k rpm and took you head off in the process

After all, it's only 1200cc, not 7.2lt (454ci) ...
