Not a bad idea...

A friend of mine has a PO Box kind of thingy in the US. He's into electronic gadgets like the HTC mobile phones, HDMI stuff etc. He sources a lot of his stuff in the States, and has them delivered to that address, then they redirect it to Aus.

Must ask him again how all that works, as you end up saving heaps on hard-to-get items. Which just about everything is down here - or, if you can get it, you pay through the nose for it...

I'm going to have to order my parts from HH site because the lhs still has no parts...even though HH has em'.

So i'm going to get...main blades,grips,flybar,....those are what i think i might need most...was that way with the msr.
I think i also will get a head and an anti-rotation collar.

Oh ya...an extra battery!

Is it cheaper for a regular joe to to send something from your house than if your ordering something online?
That depends a lot on what you're buying and where you buy it from.

HobbyKing, for example, often have great prices on things but they bunk their international postage up to cover their costs. I've bought a fair few things from them, and sometimes their postage calculation peeves me.

E.g. those new Spektrum DSM2 clone Rx's - 9 grams each, yet they charge 100 grams per article for postage. That's like 10 times what the product weighs.

And shipping on foamies etc is often half the cost of the plane - I bought an F14 for 60 bucks - the postage was a further $30 on top of that. But even then, it still comes in waaaay cheaper than buying something like that down here - if you can get it.

You guys State-side get some really good stuff and fantastic prices.

Ooooh to have a "Harbor Freight" down here...

Till then, we just have to dig a little deeper to get the toys we want...

I mean no disrespect...But just because it is stiffer does not always mean it has stronger magnets, mabey something is adding extra friction?

On the outside of the main motor on mine there was a short straight peace of wire about 1/4'' long.
It was stuck to the motor because of the magnet.I pulled it off the can and tossed it,never thought anymore about it.
But with you saying the motor is stiffer than the other it makes me think that mabey...somehow a small peace of wire...or somthing could be stuck inside..from the magnet causeing one motor to be stiffer.

But that wouldn't explain you saying that the stiffer motor seems to have more power????
Thats strange.
Be sure to keep us updated on how that motor is going.I would be curious when it dies to take it appart and have a look see and compare it with a non clicking motor...Strange.

As long as it is working i would keep flying and have fun with it.

I can feel the pull of the magnets as I turn the motor by hand, it's hard to describe, but it rotates in " steps". I have about 20 flights on the heli now and the motor seems to have broken in some; it turns with less resistance and the clicking is not as loud, but it still has more power than my other (newer) one.

I was going to say the same thing - you can feel the internal magnets having more 'pull' when you slowly rotate the shaft by hand...

I know what you mean about "steps" the tail motor on the SR feels like that.....reminds me kind of like "pinch" in a nitro engine.lol

The dragon flies attacked me too! Last night. Like the swallows do with my micro p-51. Boy flew my old msr tonight .. Seemed easier than I remembered, which must mean the 120 is just a bit harder.. More pendulum.

If you've got 'compression' in an electric motor, I reckon you'd be in a spot of bother... LoL

Closer look

Here's a better look my project. I have been chased by swallows, dragonflys, I even had a hawk touchdown right where I had taken off from one day, not sure his intent.
120 SR Let there be light. (0 min 53 sec)

Spare parts are for girls.

I must have a really good 120. When I bought mine, 2 weeks ago, there where no spare parts, so I didn't buy any. The only thing I have bought since then is 3 more batteries. I have flown 3 to 4 times a day since I got it. So far I not needed a single part. I fly in my basement and I have hit everything down there including me. As I said I must have a really good one.

Don't think its TBE, maybe a slight variable breeze.
But you can check to make sure all your dogbones and servo rod ends
are popped on the balls properly, sometimes they get pushed in.
Check to see if plastic flybar is straight, you can bend it a little.
Make sure both blades are tightened equally, as close as possible.
You could also weigh each blade, and check balance.
Mine came with blades kinda loose, but I run them a bit tighter.
Experiment with tighter and looser, lol... and you will find what works
best for you.

Good news,

Took my defective 120 back to LHS, and he hovered it above a table
for about a minute, (I thought it wasn't gonna act up for him), then
it did a 180, then ok, then started spinning.
Tail motor was cutting out, and he fiddled with the plug to no avail.
Then swapped out a new one, tried it out, and hovered hands off
with only 1 or 2 clicks of trim.
Snagged a HZ Champ on the way out

Flew two batteries at home and I think this one flies better than the
last one (besides the spinning thing) with a mild breeze at <2.

No clicking sound from either heli.

Tried out the Champ over the bean field by my house, flies very nice but
I had to put in alot of down trim to fix the porpoising up and down.
Only tried it on stock TX with low rates.

These both will go with me when we go camping, and the MSR too.
