mcx2 flybar stalls on left turns because it's driven by the rotor that shuts down with left rudder input... full left rudder actually powers it (upper rotor) off completely...

... no spinning flybar... no stabilization...

result = the funky chicken

My heli is stock except for the following mods and upgrades:

Added CHAP1012's fishing line mod (thanks Mike!)
Adjusted clearance between main gear and motor pinion
Trimmed approx. 1/2" off each blade
Balanced and tracked blades and flybar (critical)
Installed Dylwad's Astroid Designs CNC battery mount for larger batts
Installed Xtreme ball bearing motor
Installed CNC rotor hub and anti-rotation collar

I set up a separate model on my dx6i for flying in either confined spaces or the great outdoors (including the gym). The "outdoor" settings aren't working very well on my new heli at present; will do some more experimenting at the gym Wednesday night.

Here are the settings that seem to work best for me fly in confined spaces:

ADJUST LIST > D/R&EXPO
AILE 0 100% + 30%
ELEV 0 100% + 30%
RUDD 0 100% + 15%

ALL SUB TRIMS = 0

ADJUST LIST > THRO CUR
NORM POS 1 0%
NORM POS 2 35%
NORM POS 3 50%
NORM POS 4 65%
NORM POS 5 100%

ADJUST LIST > MIX 1
ELEV => AILE ACT
RATE L -15% R -15%
SW ON TRIM INH
ADJUST LIST > MIX 2
RUDD => AILE ACT
RATE L -20% R -20%
SW ON TRIM INH

I dunno - ask Mr. Salt. He says set it to INH but it doesn't seem to make any difference either way.

Anyway here's a quick vid I took flying in the basement with the indoor settings.

Yes, but how does TRIM INH differ from TRIM ACT?

EDIT:
OIC - it pays to read the fine print! Thanks Mike I get it now. It looks like TRIM really should be set to INH or trimming the elevator or rudder will also trim the ailerons! I'm gonna go back and edit my settings post #15934...

I know that, but what happens when you select ACT instead of INH for TRIM?

Never mind...got me again, Mike!

Hey Pilgrim, Very nice flight. I just want to say I have all of Mr. Salt's books and happy with all of them. One thing that he tries to stress is that his info is just a guide to get you started and that you should try different settings to find what works best for you and your bird and he is 100% right. You have done that. I just want others to know that it is easy to get stuck on one or two settings that work. Guy's, do what Pilgrim and I have done, play with all the settings to get the most out of your TX and bird. WS

Here is a vote for Mr Salt's e-book.

I have made many of the mods he suggests...

- added heatshrink to tail motor housing.
- balanced blades. I didn't think would make much difference but it smoothed out mine a lot.
- epoxied motor to support as it was flexing quite a bit.
- added varios mixes to help with its little characteristics. I found some of them worthwile while others I did not like and have now removed.
- lubbed the feathering O-rings

An excellent intro to the 120SR or MSR/X and to fixed pitch helis in general.
