I just posted a bunch of additional motels near the field ranging from $85 to $169 per night. All are within 10 minutes of the field and right off the Long Island Expressway.

Yes. As noted in the thread, one of them offered us a discount if we booked 10 rooms.

The field closes at dusk and the gates are locked. You can check on the campgrounds that are listed at the ESL web site link posted earlier.

frank is pretty hospitable.... he may let you camp on his front lawn!!!

I think on that ESL thread, there are 4 campgounds located very close by.

So where are all the pilots coming to L.I.?

For those looking for rooms, Ed found this out:

scouted out some additional models this morning.

All of these are right near exit 40 of the Long Island Expressway and less tan 10 minutes from the field.

He said if we booked a block of 10 or more rooms he could do $75 a night.

The room I saw was worn but clean and serviceable. I would be OK to stay there.
